With all the rain we are getting this week, it's the perfect time to think about where that water goes! From urban rain gardens and green infrastructure to rural creeks and tributaries, every drop ends up in the Illinois River Watershed. The choices we make on the land directly impact the quality of the water we all share!

You can help make a difference by joining one of our volunteer events this summer! Whether you're planting native species, cleaning up streams, or helping restore habitat, you'll be making a lasting impact on local water quality.

Come get your hands dirty for your watershed! Click the link in our bio to learn more and register to volunteer.

IRWP's partnership with Urban Land Institute Northwest Arkansas came together organically, and we have loved collaborating through Place Summit and supporting their management committee. As our region continues to grow, resilience in our urban environments becomes even more important to watershed health. We are thankful for their partnership and shared vision for stronger communities!

The Arkansas Water Young Professionals (YP) Network Annual Float took place last weekend on the Illinois River, bringing together a diverse group of water professionals and students from across Arkansas. Participants included representatives from IRWP, Beaver Water District, the Arkansas Department of Health, stormwater engineers, University of Arkansas students studying water-related fields, and development professionals who all play an important role in protecting and providing our region’s water resources.

A special thank you to Meghan Post with Beaver Water District for organizing this event and to Black & Veatch for their sponsorship. It was a great opportunity to build connections, share experiences, and strengthen the next generation of water professionals—we're already looking forward to the next float!

The AR Water YP Network is free and open to anyone interested in the water industry. Its mission is to connect, support, train, and develop early-career professionals while helping strengthen and sustain Arkansas’s water workforce for the future.
