Northwest Georgia Charter Academy The school is approved to open in Fall 2026 serving grades K–5 and will expand to include grades 6–12 beginning in August 2026.

The Northwest Georgia Charter Academy, will be a public charter school to open August 2026, we will provide an excellent, tuition-free option for K-12 students who reside in Rome city, Floyd county, and Polk county. The Northwest Georgia Charter Academy is a free public charter school that will provide excellent, tuition-free choice for K–12 students who reside in Rome City, Floyd County, and Polk

County. Northwest Georgia Charter Academy will implement an Expeditionary Learning (EL) model—an approach that combines interdisciplinary, hands-on, project-based instruction with real-world experiences. This model challenges students to explore topics in depth through meaningful “learning expeditions,” while also emphasizing character development, critical thinking, collaboration, and a strong commitment to community service. Students learn by doing, making connections across subjects, and applying their knowledge in authentic ways that prepare them for success in school and in life. Now that the school has been approved, families are invited to participate in pre-enrollment opening September 1-October 31, 2025. Pre-enrollment allows parents to indicate interest in securing a spot for their child. As a public charter school, admission is free and open to all students in the community. If applications exceed available seats, students will be admitted through a fair and transparent lottery process. For our full enrollment policy visit our website at www.nwgacharteracademy.org. The school’s founding board, with support from the Georgia Charter Schools Association and experienced consultants, is actively preparing for the opening. Community engagement will continue to ensure that the school reflects the unique needs and priorities of the families we will serve in Northwest Georgia.
