Spiral Living Center Spiral Living Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has served the Illinois Valley of So Our Earth Scouts!

We have developed and currently maintain a wide spectrum of community-reliance programs help our neighbors meet their basic needs such as food, shelter, transportation, and communication. Through the IV Gleaning Project, we encourage local gardeners and farmers to share excess food crops with those in need. We facilitate the harvesting and distribution of fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste by donating to volunteers and food banks in Josephine County. Program inspired by our late Board Member, Scout, provides a safe outdoor educational experience specifically for teens and adults to heal from isolation and industrial culture. Through deepening relationships with themselves, each other, and the living earth, participants will build self confidence and trust in themselves and peers as they develop outdoor and rural living skills that they can depend on in uncertain times. We also maintain the IV Bikespace and Resource Libraries where neighbors can come to fix or repair tools, and rent educational materials. Alongside our programs above, we also organize and execute hands-on educational events and large scale gatherings. For the last 14 years, our programs mentioned above have thrived with the help of grants, donations, volunteers, and dedicated community members. Help us fill the table AND the auction!

Preparations are underway for Spiral Living Center's 2026 Local Foods Dinner on November 7, and we're reaching out to our community for two kinds of contributions:

LOCAL FOOD & INGREDIENTS
Have something growing, harvested, preserved, baked, or otherwise locally produced that could help our kitchen team create this year's dinner? We'd love to hear from local growers, producers, gardeners, and food makers.
AUCTION ITEMS
We're also gathering items for the Local Foods Dinner fundraising auction. Local goods, handmade items, gift certificates, experiences, services, firewood, tools, w**e, desserts and other fun or useful contributions are welcome.

You don't have to be a business to contribute. Some of the best donations come straight from the gardens, kitchens, workshops and wonderfully creative corners of our community.

Every Local Foods Dinner leaves a few stories behind.

Meals prepared together. Local food transformed into something wonderful. Volunteers filling the kitchen. Tables set. Plates filled. Neighbors gathering.

Years change, menus change, and faces around the tables change, but the heart of the Local Foods Dinner has remained remarkably familiar: community feeding community.

And now we're getting ready to do it again. 🌱

The Local Foods Dinner returns November 7!

Join Spiral Living Center at the Takilma Community Building for an evening celebrating local food, live music, community, and the people who make the Illinois Valley home.

This year's dinner will feature a locally inspired meal, live music generously donated by George & Anwyn, entertainment, and our community fundraising auction.

🎟️ Tickets are now available!
Prefer to pay cash? Printed tickets are also available through Spiral Living Center board members.

We're also looking for volunteers, local food contributions, and auction donations to help bring the evening together.

The Local Foods Dinner is back!

Join Spiral Living Center on Saturday, November 7 at the Takilma Community Building for an evening celebrating local food, community, music and the people who make the Illinois Valley such a special place.

This year’s dinner will feature a locally inspired meal, live music from George & Anwyn, entertainment and our community fundraising auction. Doors open at 5:30 PM.

Tickets are available online, or you can purchase a printed ticket with cash from a Spiral Living Center board member.

And this dinner really does take a village! We’re also looking for volunteers, local food contributions and auction donations. If you grow it, make it, bake it, have something useful to donate, or simply have a couple of hands to lend, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re excited to come together as a community to support Spiral Living Center a local Illinois Valley nonprofit dedicated to sharing sustainable living skills and strengthening our community through programs focused on food security, education, and self-reliance.

Through IVCanDO’s Cans for Kids program, your redeemable Oregon bottles and cans can help support important local programs. Cans for Kids raises funds for youth-focused causes and organizations throughout the Illinois Valley, and we’re proud to be part of that community effort.
