Happy National Donut Day! 🍩
Today is a sweet reminder that small gestures can brighten someone's day.
Whether it's sharing a dozen donuts with coworkers, checking in on a neighbor, volunteering your time, or donating to support local families, kindness has a way of multiplying.
At Foothills Food Bank, we're grateful for a community that shows up for one another every day.

Did you know that many foods are still safe to eat after their "best by" date?

In fact, labels like "Best By" and "Sell By" often refer to quality—not safety. But there are a few foods that should never be consumed or donated once they've expired. According to food safety experts, items like infant formula, deli meats, raw seafood, soft cheeses, and leafy greens are among the foods that should be discarded once they pass their safe-use window.

Before cleaning out your pantry or making a donation, take a moment to check expiration dates and food quality. Safe donations help us provide nutritious food to neighbors in need while reducing unnecessary food waste.

What food expiration myths have surprised you the most?

School supplies are more than pencils and notebooks — they’re confidence, preparedness, and opportunity for local kids heading into a new school year.
Last year, Foothills Food Bank helped support over 1,000 children in our community through school supply distribution, local school partnerships, and family assistance programs.
This year, the need is expected to grow — and we’re asking our community to come together once again.
🎒 We are officially kicking off our 2026 Back-to-School Supply Drive!
From June 1 – July 1, we’ll be collecting:
✏️ School supplies
🎒 Backpacks
📚 Classroom essentials
Donations can be dropped off at:
📍 Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center
📍 Old Black Canyon Highway location
Every backpack, every notebook, and every pencil helps a child start the school year feeling supported and prepared.

💙 Broad Shoulders. Big Hearts.

This Father's Day, we're celebrating the dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures who show up every day with strength, kindness, and care.

Help us brighten Father's Day for local men in our community by donating new items such as:
☕ Coffee & travel mugs
🧦 Socks
🪒 Shaving & beard products
👛 Wallets & belts
🥜 Protein-rich snacks
🧢 Baseball caps

Every donation is a simple way to remind someone that they are seen, valued, and appreciated.

Can't find the perfect gift? A donation in honor of a father figure is a meaningful way to celebrate the values they've passed on while helping a neighbor in need.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center.

For four years, the women of Desert Hills Presbyterian Church have faithfully shown up for our neighbors in need. 💛

Each month, this incredible group gathers to pack 100 compassion bags filled with essential household and hygiene items — things like laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels, tissues, and more.

What began as a small project in 2022 has now grown into more than 4,500 bags distributed through Foothills Food Bank to help ease the financial strain many local families face.

These bags provide more than supplies. They provide dignity, care, and hope.
We are deeply grateful for the continued partnership, generosity, and heart behind this mission. Thank you to Dawne and the entire Desert Hills Presbyterian Church group for making such a meaningful impact in our community.

💛 Thank You for Joining Us at Our Community Open House!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate with us, tour our space, connect with our team, and support our mission during the Foothills Food Bank Community Open House.

Because of your generosity, we also received many wonderful donations that will directly help local families, seniors, and individuals in our community. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference.

Seeing our community come together reminds us why this work matters so much. Thank you for being part of it. 💛

In observance of Memorial Day, Foothills Food Bank will be closed on May 25.
We pause to honor and remember those who have served and sacrificed.
We will resume normal operations following the holiday. 🇺🇸

When you think about “community,” what comes to mind?
For us, it means showing up for each other—especially when it matters most.
We’d love to hear what it means to you 💛

Before food reaches a family, it passes through a lot of hands that care deeply about this community.
Sorting, packing, organizing—every step matters.
This is what it takes to make sure no one is left without support.
💛 Thank you to the people who make this possible.

Support looks different for everyone—and we’re here for all of it.
From emergency food boxes to mobile pantry services, we provide consistent, reliable support for individuals and families across our community. Because access to food shouldn’t depend on circumstance.
