What CWGC Leadership Means to Me

I have served on the Catonsville Giving Circle Leadership Team in several different roles: Grants Co-Chair, Co-Convener, and currently as “Scribe,” our name for Recording Secretary. It is rewarding to be part of a group of like-minded women working to benefit deserving causes that make our local community better. Hearing a mission moment at the start of each monthly meeting reminds us that we are making a difference locally. It’s a good feeling to contribute to a truly joint effort while knowing that you don’t always need to have the answer – there’s a whole team to figure out the best way to move forward and lead the larger non-profit. I’ve learned much from many smart, energetic, and caring women while serving on the leadership team. It’s a honor to be part of this team.

Another leader reflects on CWGC:

I love my community. And I enjoy connecting with other women who also love this community. This is the main reason that I have especially found it rewarding to serve as Membership Co-chair on the Leadership Team, meeting and greeting members and introducing them to CWGC. I have met so many fascinating and dedicated women during the past eight years that I have been a member. Being a part of the Grants Committee and seeing up close how our collective philanthropy works has also been very fulfilling for me. Mostly I am grateful to CWGC for opening my eyes to the many and various organizations in our own backyard, and the important work their staff and volunteers are doing that has such an impact on the wider Catonsville area.

Catonsville is a lovely community and when I learned of the Catonsville Women’s Giving Circle many years ago, I knew I wanted to be a part of it… women supporting their community! For many years I only donated funds and read notices and emails from CWGC as I was working and didn’t feel I had the time to give to the committees. Then a good friend and CWGC leader encouraged me to join the Education Committee and I have really enjoyed it. Working with so many awesome community members, getting to know committed and outstanding women through CWGC has been a real pleasure. You get to see and participate in important efforts that help those in need in the community! Do join us and find out firsthand!
