We Need Warrenton’s Help: The Battle to Protect Fauquier
from Data Centers and Transmission Lines Continues
In 2022-2023, Town and County residents fought side by side to prevent transmission lines in central Fauquier and the Amazon data center in Warrenton. Thanks to citizens from all across Fauquier, we beat back the transmission lines and supported litigation that has put a dagger in the heart of the Amazon data center plan.
But new threats have emerged. Four massive new data center campuses have been proposed in Re*****on. Their electricity load would be enormous – TEN TO TWENTY TIMES the electricity used by all Fauquier households. That excessive load will inevitably lead to new transmission lines that would be routed through Vint Hill, Cedar Run, and other parts of Fauquier.
Please help us protect Fauquier’s rural, agricultural heritage and landscape. Help us push back the growing pressure for more transmission lines. We ask that each of you write our Fauquier Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors this week. Use your own words to say:
• Please do not approve the Gigaland data center in Re*****on, or any of the other proposed data centers. The Re*****on data centers are massively out of scale with our rural, agricultural county.
• The electric load is overwhelming. It will lead to more transmission lines in Fauquier. Gigaland alone will require 6-12 times as much electricity as all the homes in Fauquier.
• For decades, Fauquier citizens and elected officials have worked to protect the Fauquier landscape and way of life -- to keep it agricultural, rural, and scenic. Please protect Fauquier's hard-earned heritage. Vote "NO" on more data centers and the transmission lines they will require.
• We do not want Fauquier to turn into Loudoun and Prince William Counties with data center buildings, substations, and transmission lines marring the landscape.
