Back in August, the HHS issued a new rule that would ban federal funding for medically necessary care for transgender youth under the age of 18 for Medicaid and under the age of 19 for CHIP. Now that this rule is officially in effect, we want to applaud the states that are refusing their own state Medicaid and CHIP funds to keep healthcare for trans youth accessible to their constituents.

Miss Major Griffin-Gracy was a veteran of the Stonewall uprising, a former s*x worker, and an advocate for over 50 years for the trans and gender-nonconforming community.

Miss Major’s extensive legacy includes caring for people with HIV/AIDS in the early 80s, uplifting other trans women of color impacted by police violence, and investing in community resilience through organizations like the House of gg and her creative projects.

One year after her passing, we honor her determined fight for our community with every tool at her disposal.

We are PFLAG proud to honor the community all year long, including the launch of our newest PCC group dedicated to Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ Indigenous relatives, the PFLAG Connects: Two-Spirit & Indigenous Circle; the re-launch of our Indigenous-led chapter, PFLAG Native Metro Phoenix; and our investment in Bay Bank, founded and solely owned by the Oneida Nation.

Our 5th annual Rainbow Writes competition is accepting submissions through October 31st!

Designed by our 2022-2023 National Student Council cohort in direct response to widespread book bans throughout the U.S., Rainbow Writes was created to amplify youth voices and uplift the joy of q***r experiences.

This year's theme is “MVPs” (Most Valuable Players). It invites LGBTQ+ young writers to tell stories about those who have been most foundational in their own journeys of self-discovery or the times when they positively impacted others.
