Pioneer Community Association This beautiful church, built in 1895, is the most prominent landmark in Cathlamet.

The uniquely designed church sits in the middle of town and its tall tower peeks above the rooftops. It is used for weddings, art shows, musical revues and other occasions, and is a common photo opportunity for tourists. Contact the Pioneer Community Association for more information, or call the Town of Cathlamet to reserve the Church.

It's time to do something with the Snake Trail (Old School Trail) staircase! Several years ago, local artist, Daniel Tchozewski painted an eye catching piano keyboard on them. Time has nearly erased it, but we can fix that. We want to build on that theme and create a visual message.

First step is power washing the steps and painting the piano keys. Then it's time to add some WORDS worth reading.

We hope to make this an annual project with a new message and a Bald Eagle Days reveal:

What a wonderful presentation at the Welcome House/Johnson House this afternoon! The graduate students from the University of Washington Department of Landscape Architecture were both well prepared and actively engaged with the large crowd that attended.
Thank you WHEELhouse Cathlamet for hosting this event. The PCA Members in attendance had a great conversation with Emma on Navigating Slopes! Their vision for the area around the Cathlamet Pioneer Center was appealing.

June 14th-Flag Day, what it means:

Flag Day is an annual observance that commemorates the adoption of the United States flag on June 14, 1777. On this date, the Continental Congress passed the Flag Resolution, which established the official design for the American flag. The resolution stated: "Resolved, that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation."

The day serves as an opportunity for Americans to reflect on the values and principles that the flag represents: liberty, justice, unity, and the ongoing pursuit of a more perfect union. Flag Day encourages citizens to display the flag proudly and remember the sacrifices made by countless individuals to preserve the freedoms it symbolizes.

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
John F. Kennedy

NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH

Every May, communities across the country come together to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month, a time to recognize the historic sites, neighborhoods, and landmarks that connect us to our past and inspire us to protect them for future generations.

The beautiful and historic Cathlamet Pioneer Center stands because a small group of people, individuals filled with vision and passion, were committed to saving a building that many only saw as a perfect Fire Dept. burn down training structure.

As impressive as the outside is, the true magic lies within. It starts with a small stage that showcases community talent, the young and maybe not so young. There are magnificent stained glass windows that illuminate the faces of everyone occupying the handmade curved pews from 1895. And there are new memories being created to pass on to future generations.

At every concert we hear someone say, "This is my first time in the building!" At every concert we are happy to see the wonderful familiar faces that have supported preservation efforts for years; as PCA Members, donors and audience members. At every concert we know that all the headaches and heartaches have brought us to a heartfelt 🎶🎶HALLELUJAH🎶🎶
