Wahkiakum Shoeboxes of Joy At Christmas, we make "Shoeboxes of Joy" for those in Wahkiakum County who are disabled, low-income, or elderly and alone during Christmas.

However, our "Elves" work year-round to build community and reduce isolation.

If you received a shoebox and would like to share the joy, you’re welcome to drop off any unneeded contents—or the shoebox itself—at Video Store Cathlamet or the Cathlamet Bank of the Pacific. We’ll make sure it finds its way to bless someone else.

“Connecting with neighbors.

We hear their names in passing… when we see them drive by, we wave. We stop by for a second to say trick or treat and exchange a smile. But, delivering the shoeboxes gives us a chance to chat; to see each other’s faces a little bit closer. Everyone is so thankful for a box of goodies and especially a chance to talk. Talk about recovering from a stroke, or how a project is going. Talk about memories and what the future may hold.

In the hustle and bustle it was a gift to slow down and connect with our neighbors.”❤️

An elf delivered her first shoebox today, and the recipient was moved to tears. She shared that she’s been feeling depressed, and receiving these gifts brought her comfort.💞
