Today is HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day and the 45th anniversary of the first time AIDS was actually given a name. While there is still no cure, there is effective treatment in most countries. There are more people living with HIV than ever before. Many are your friends, neighbors and loved ones. Please take a moment to be grateful that they are still with us while remembering the many who are not. REAF was founded as a way to support services for those living with HIV as well as honor the two sons who REAF was named after, John Richmond and Doug Ermet, who we lost to the disease. To our friends who are living with this disease, you are why REAF is still here 32 years since we started and we honor you today.
