Today we celebrate 78 years of the United States Air Force Reserve, and the men and women who have made it one of the most capable reserve components in the world.

When President Truman signed the Reserve into existence in 1948, the goal was readiness. Today, that mission holds strong with roughly 70,000 personnel trained and prepared to deploy whenever the nation calls. These are people with careers, families, and full civilian lives who still raise their hand and say they are ready.

A number of professionals within our own association serve concurrently in the Reserve. They bring that training, that discipline, and that sense of duty directly into the work they do here at home.

Happy birthday to the Air Force Reserve. Seventy-eight years of service worth celebrating.

Happy Easter to every family in our community celebrating today. Whether your tradition involves a church service, a backyard egg hunt, or a table full of people you love, we hope this day gives you exactly what you need.

The scale of this holiday might surprise you. According to the National Retail Federation, Americans purchase around 120 million pounds of candy for Easter each year, making it one of the biggest candy-buying holidays on the calendar. Somewhere out there, a lot of chocolate bunnies are having a very bad day.

While the celebrations are happening across the community, our members are on patrol and responding to calls to make sure everyone gets home safely. They do not take the day off, and they do not take the responsibility lightly.

Happy Easter. We are grateful to serve this community every single day, including this one.

Today is National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

We pause today to honor every man and woman who served during the Vietnam era. Your courage, your sacrifice, and your commitment to this nation deserve to be recognized not just today, but always.

Many of you came home without the welcome you had earned. You returned to uncertainty, rebuilt your lives with quiet strength, and continued serving your communities long after your time in uniform ended. That is not lost on us.

On behalf of our entire membership, we say with sincerity what should have been said long ago. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your sacrifice. You are not forgotten.

Today is National Medal of Honor Day.

Since the Civil War, the United States has awarded the Medal of Honor to just over 3,500 service members. Out of the millions who have worn this nation's uniform, that number is a reminder of how rare true valor is and how extraordinary the men and women who earned it truly were.

The Medal of Honor is not given for doing the job. It is given for doing something far beyond it, often at great personal risk, in moments where most would not have been blamed for doing less. That distinction matters.

On this National Medal of Honor Day, we honor their courage, their selflessness, and the legacy they left behind. Their stories deserve to be told, remembered, and passed on.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! While we love seeing our community celebrate, tonight is one of the busiest nights of the year for impaired driving. NHTSA data shows around 47 people lose their lives in drunk driving crashes during this holiday, and that's a number we want to bring down together.

Our members will be out in force tonight, but here's how you can help keep everyone safe:
Plan your ride home before you start drinking. Rideshare, designated driver, whatever works for you.
Look out for your crew. If someone in your group is thinking about driving after drinking, speak up.
Know your limits. It's a celebration, not a competition.
Just don't do it. No destination is worth a drunk driving charge, or worse.

Stay safe out there and have a great St. Patrick's Day!

Daylight Saving Time begins today, March 8. Research consistently shows a 6% spike in fatal traffic accidents during the week immediately following the spring time change - a direct result of sleep disruption affecting millions of drivers simultaneously.

For law enforcement professionals, that statistic isn't abstract. It shows up in the calls you run, the scenes you work, and the reports you write. As you head into the week, exercise heightened caution on the roads. The clocks moved one hour, but the risks moved considerably more.

Happy Birthday to the United States Navy Reserve.

Since its establishment, the Navy Reserve has answered the call in every major conflict — with reservists making up a staggering 84% of the entire Navy force at the end of World War II. Today, nearly 60,000 Selected Reserve personnel carry that legacy forward, maintaining mission-ready status while serving their home communities in uniform.

Many of our own members know this commitment firsthand - balancing shifts, court dates, and community duties with federal deployments across the globe. That's not one job. That's a calling times two.

To every law enforcement professional who also wears the Navy Reserve anchor - we see you, we honor you, and we thank you.

Today we recognize Presidents’ Day - a moment to reflect on leadership, service, and the ideals that continue to shape our nation.

Interesting fact: the federal holiday is officially called “Washington’s Birthday,” and it has been observed on the third Monday in February since the Uniform Monday Holiday Act moved it in 1971.

While names and traditions may vary, the meaning remains the same: honoring the individuals who have carried the responsibility of leading our country and remembering the importance of public service at every level.

From our members to our community, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Presidents’ Day.

Love means showing up - even when it’s hard.

This Valentine’s Day, we recognize the strength of the families, partners, and loved ones who support those serving our communities every single day. Their patience, understanding, and sacrifice often happen quietly, but they matter deeply.

Today is about appreciation, gratitude, and remembering that service is never a solo effort.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Cancer knows no borders, and it respects no badge. It is a challenge that impacts every community we serve.

On World Cancer Day, we pause to recognize the immense courage of our members currently navigating a diagnosis and the resilience of the families walking beside them. In this organization, we are family, and nobody fights alone. We send our collective strength and prayers to everyone facing this battle today.

🤝 Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 🤝

Today we remember a leader who believed that true justice is built through understanding, dialogue, and community connection.

📌 Did you know? Dr. King often met with local leaders - including law enforcement - to plan peaceful demonstrations and ensure the safety of marchers. He understood that lasting change happens when communities work together.

His words still guide us: "The time is always right to do what is right."
As law enforcement professionals, we're committed to serving every member of our community with fairness, dignity, and respect. Dr. King's vision challenges us to listen, to learn, and to build bridges every single day.

💙 Thank you to the officers who serve their communities 365 days a year.
