My 19 year old morning Plott Hound. Dixie Chick. 11 years she spent her life hunting black bear before being surrendered because she got old and sick. The hunter no longer had any use for her and surrendered her to my County. Lucky me. I have had her on my head for the past 7 and a half years. ❤️🐾❤️

MY LITTLE ONE, MY DUNCAN HOUND CURLED UP AGAINST ME...

This is what I wake up to.

I only post once a day or even not at all. I try to find topics and photography that are poignant and make folks smile or hopefully turn into their own hearts for inspiration.

I usually do this the night before.

What to post today? What to say? There is so much.

Maybe a hope for life renewed on the eve of Spring?

But this morning there was Duncan curled up against me. Everyday he comes along further finding his way to be his best self, and he is glorious and happy.

He is now a teaching hound. He is Skye Girl's Lieutenant. Lieutenant Duncan. They patrol together and in complete tandem.

He is the importance of patience proved daily -- on his terms and his comfort. He was such a mess.

So today this is what I decided to put up on FB.

My Little One, my Duncan Hound. ❤️🐾

THE BOWIE HOUND HAS WOES ABOUT INFLATION

The Bowie Hound: You paid five dollars for two cucumbers? 😱

Me: Wolf Momma picked them up. She told me about the massive increase in the price of cucumbers. 😱

Skye Girl: CUCUMBERS ARE SLOPPY WAX-SKINNED BAGS OF WATER!!!! 💀🔫💥

Lily Belle: Think of all the bananas we could have had for my Lily Belly! 🙃

The Bowie Hound: Fill a glass of water next time! 🙃

Patriot Puppy: The inflation will recede and cucumbers will become more affordable when in season! 🙃

Dixie Chick: IS UKRAINE SAFE?!?!? 💀🔫💥

Me: We definitely are a victim of First World Problems, Dixie Chick. 🙄

Lady Girl: I need a bigger bomb shelter! 😱

Magic Hound: What the hell is a cucumber? 🙃

Momma Hound: Cucumbers are overrated! 🙃

Duncan Hound: Freaking two cucumbers for five dollars! That makes gasoline look like a bargain! 😱

The Bowie Hound: What the hell is a filet mignon going for these days? 🙃

SWEET ESMERELDA...

She went to the vet today and was fixed up, spayed, Heart Worm tested (negative -- just Yay). She got her rabies shot. She is ready to roll after months at the shelter in Amelia County, Virginia.

See, the thing is my friends paid every dime to save this girl. Y'all saved her. She does have Lyme's disease but the funds donated cover that.

Jessica Easter is an Animal Control Officer at the shelter. She wrote this about Esmeralda...

"She’s great with all other dogs, she does not mind cats, she walks well on a leash. She has a prance to her walk which makes Esmeralda ever so fitting."

She is now totally adoptable... The number at the shelter is (804) 561-3878. If interested give them a ring. Otherwise I want her... 🙃

But she does not belong here. She is totally adoptable. I only take in the hounds that are not. She has been in that shelter for months and she needs to get out.

So just ❤️ to all of you who helped save Esmeralda. She is a gem and will make someone so happy. ❤️🐾

ON TIME...

When will this semester end?

This week at work?

When will Summer come?

When will this night end?

I am guilty as anyone wishing for time to pass before my eyes...

No longer.

Every second has become precious. There is no from this day to that in a hurry. There is only now and I mostly wish for it never to end.

Today is the youngest I will ever be. Today my neuropathy and MS will never be better.

This morning I woke up next to my ancient one.

She whispers to me, "Don't let it end. There is not one day promised to us."

And I listen. ❤️🐾
