A Historic Gathering: Tens of Thousands of Jewish Children Unite in Honor of the Rebbe's Leadership

The Great Kibbush! Through the Veil of War, Tens of Thousands of Jewish Children from Across Eretz Hakodesh Unite with the Reshet for a Historic Event, Honoring 75 Years of the Rebbe's World Leadership!

In an unprecedented display of Jewish pride, 45,000 students from the Chabad educational network “Reshet Oholei Yosef Yitzchak”, along with 4,000 educators, participated in an electrifying series of national gatherings.

This monumental initiative was launched in direct response to the Rebbe’s holy directive—to unite Jewish children and students of the Reshet to strengthen their commitment to Torah, mitzvos, and Chassidic values.

The grand events, held in the state-of-the-art “Heichal Shlomo” in Tel Aviv, marked the 75th anniversary of the Rebbe’s leadership. Each day of the week preceding Yud Shvat, multiple gatherings took place, ensuring that every student could be empowered and excited about their Yiddishkeit and their connection to the Rebbe.

74 Years Ago Today: What Did the Rebbe Ask of the Partisan?
On 5 Tammuz, 5711, just a few months after the Rebbe accepted the leadership of Chabad – Lubavitch, and days before Yud Beis Tammuz, the Rebbe sent an urgent letter to Israel with an important request.

The year was 5711. Chabad was reeling, with the Holocaust in fresh memory, countless chassidim murdered or trapped by the Soviets, and the passing of the Frierdiker Rebbe just a year before. But the Rebbe, who had accepted the leadership of Chabad earlier that year, was looking to the future.

“It would be advisable for you to explore the possibilities of also establishing institutions there (in the Holy Land) that would join the network of educational institutions…called "Oholei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch" after the [Frierdiker] Rebbe, my father-in-law,” the Rebbe wrote to the famed Chabad activist Reb Zushe Wilmovsky, in a letter dated 5 Tammuz, 5711, exactly 74 years ago.

Building a network of schools, especially in Israel of the time, and with Chabad’s financial constraints, seemed utterly impossible. But, when the Rebbe asks, chassidim do. And by the end of that summer, the network, or “Reshet” opened their first Oholei Yosef Yitzchok schools.

The Rebbe was intimately involved in everything that went on at the Reshet during its first few years. Even as it continued to grow and flourish, the Rebbe held it close to his heart, cherishing the educational network that bore the name of his sacred father-in-law, the Frierdiker Rebbe. Every year, on Yud Beis Tammuz, the Rebbe would hold a magbis [appeal] for the Reshet, asking chassidim to donate, and giving incredible brachos to those that did.

As the decades passed, the needs of the general population changed, and with it, the Reshet changed to meet their needs. A new, young and energetic team joined the administration of the Reshet and formed it into a “Ministry of Education” of sorts, with separate schools tracks to meet the needs of each unique demographic – non-religious, traditional, charedi, Chabad – all while adhering to the Rebbe’s vision.

This year, the Reshet is launching a special campaign from Gimmel Tammuz through Yud Beis Tammuz, Ten Days of Connection.
These ten days, bridging two deeply significant dates on the Chabad calendar, are a powerful opportunity to fulfill the Rebbe’s heartfelt request: to connect with him and give back for the boundless love and brachos he has given us.

Rebbe’s Instruction Fulfilled With Mass Tefillah Broadcast

45,000 children from across Eretz Yisroel united on Vov Tishrei, yahrzeit of Rebbetzin Chana, for a special tefillah broadcast, in light of the Rebbe’s instructions before the Yom Kippur War.

Tens of thousands of students gathered virtually in hundreds of Reshet Oholei Yosef Yitzchak schools across Eretz Yisroel for a special tefillah broadcast. The annual event, held during the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah, took on particular significance this year due to the current situation in Israel.

The theme of this year’s gathering was “Mipi olelim v’yonkim yisadta oz“ – “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have established strength because of Your adversaries, in order to put an end to enemy and avenger.”

The first such event was held 51 years ago, when the Rebbe sent a letter to the activists involved in chinuch and the administration of the Reshet asking them to hold a gathering near the Kosel. In his letter, the Rebbe detailed the content to be shared with the children.
Just days later, the Yom Kippur War broke out, and then everyone understood the Rebbe’s push to have the children gather, thus fulfilling the possuk of “Mipi olelim v’yonkim.”

Due to the ongoing war, this year’s gathering was held virtually, with a live broadcast allowing the children to “gather” at the Kosel from their homes and schools.

Rabbi Zeev Wolf Kritzevsky opened the event, emphasizing to the children the privilege of participating in this assembly at such a holy site. He stressed the importance of each child’s role in the security of the entire Jewish people, especially during these challenging times.

Following the recital of the Rebbe’s kapitel and a special tefillah for the safety of the Israeli soldiers and for the return of the hostages, students from Northern Israel were called upon to recite the twelve pesukim. Tens of thousands of children repeated after them, word for word, from hundreds of locations across Eretz Yisroel.

The children then watched a video of the Rebbe at a children’s rally, and joined in the singing of Avinu Malkeinu, led by singer Shmulik Soffer.

As is customary in these gatherings, a tzedaka component was included, with students encouraged to donate to tzedaka boxes prepared for the occasion.

A special emphasis was placed on the Rebbe’s guidance on maintaining joy during difficult times, while remaining sensitive to others’ feelings. Participants were encouraged to recognize and appreciate the miracles occurring around them, with the belief that this will hasten the geulah.

The gathering concluded with joyous niggunim, and a tefillah for Moshiach to arrive, even before Yom Kippur.

Organized by the Chassidic Social Education Division of the Reshet, the event was dedicated to the memory of 12-year-old Menachem Mendel Bolton a”h.

‘Reshet’ Network in Israel Opens New Year With Dozens of New Schools
The Reshet network of schools opened their new school year with 45,000 students starting in one of the dozens of existing or new schools.
Chabad’s ‘Oholei Yosef Yitzchok’ network of schools in Israel, known as ‘the Reshet’ began the new school year this week with an impressive list of remarkable achievements.

For this school year, the network has added 6 new schools and 36 new kindergartens, bringing its total to 100 schools and 500 kindergartens nationwide.

Existing schools have seen expansions with new classrooms and buildings, while other institutions underwent renovations.

The network now serves 45,000 students, marking a substantial increase in enrollment.

These remarkable achievement were made possible by the dedicated work and preparation of the various ‘Reshet’ departments in coordination with principals and educational teams. This included organizing conferences and workshops for teachers, staff and administrators, and the development and distribution of hundreds of thousands of educational materials and resources.

The network has also strengthened its content development and publishing capabilities to support the growing student body. A major logistical operation facilitated the distribution of tens of thousands of new textbooks on Yiddishkeit and Chassidus.

Special preparations were made for ‘Shalhavot Chabad’ schools, which cater to children from the general public. Additionally, new shluchei chinuch have joined the network after completing the ‘Reshet’ training program.

This expansion reflects Chabad’s ongoing commitment to providing quality Jewish education across Israel, balancing traditional values with the needs of a diverse and growing student population.

🚀 Iranian Missile Hits Shalhavot Chabad School After Kids Had Left 🚀

"Open miracle": One of the 200 missiles fired by Iran's regime on Tuesday on Israel directly struck the Shalhavot Chabad school in Gedera, mere hours after a group of children had been there preparing for Rosh Hashana with a shofar factory.

On Tuesday evening, the Islamic Republic of Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles targeting Israel, resulting in explosions across the country. Approximately 180 missiles were fired, with a direct hit reported in Tel Aviv.
Iranian Missile Hits Chabad School After Kids Had Left

According to Magen David Adom (MDA), no casualties were reported from the attack, though two individuals suffered minor injuries from shrapnel in Tel Aviv, and several others sustained minor injuries while rushing to shelters. Numerous cases of severe anxiety were also reported across the nation.

One missile was especially close to causing a tragedy.

Earlier that day, children had gathered at the Shalhavot Chabad school in Gedera, located in the southern part of the Shfela region in Central Israel. The school, part of the Reshet Oholei Yosef Yitzchak network, was founded in 2015 and serves over 300 boys and girls, providing a quality Jewish education under the leadership of principal Mrs. Chani Karniel.

A photograph taken on Tuesday shows the children sitting outside the newly constructed school building, participating in a “shofar factory” activity in preparation for Rosh Hashana.

However, just hours later, a video captured by residents revealed a large crater where the children had gathered, with the school’s façade shattered and the front gate broken from a direct hit by one of Iran’s missiles.

“It was an open miracle,” one Israeli resident commented on the event.
