The 2025 Arts Council's Summer Reading Program came to a close Wednesday after four weeks of fun and reading led by Jennifer Rudebusch.
The younger group read about ice cream, diving boards, gardens and picnics, and played Mosquito Tag, Captain Midnight, Bingo and Keep Up the Beach Ball. The older group held a book club. They read The Thirteen Clocks by James Thurber. They made bookmarks and bracelets, decorated a banner, and completed summer word searches. The final week concluded with gifts of reading journals, pens, pencils, stickers and free books.
Each week the children visited the Castlewood city library, which provided prizes each week. There were 30 participants between the two groups.
The program was sponsored by the Castlewood Arts Council, Hamlin County and Castlewood City.
