NYSBA members discuss shortages affecting our industry.

The housing market isn't just red-hot for existing homes. Competition for home-building sites is fierce at the same time hurdles inhibit their construction.

The New York State Builders Association fully supports continuation of the 421-A tax incentive in NYC. New, affordable housing depends on it!

If there’s a leaky pipe in your bathroom, the cheapest and easiest fix is to slap some putty on. It will close the leak but won’t stop the occasional drop from seeping through, and you’ll have to periodically slap on some more, all while the integrity of the pipe slowly wears away.

The State Senate Housing Committee is considering a bill this week that would remove affordability as a factor when considering a new code.  We must act today to stop this from happening. We need you to contact your Senator and tell them to...

"Local governments have further stymied new housing supply with zoning and building restrictions that will remain a problem even when home-building supply chain kinks resolve. And looking forward, climate change means that a growing share of housing supply that exists today may be uninhabitable or require expensive retrofits in the future..."

And what is New York State doing to resolve the housing affordability crisis?

1. Mandating all-electrification in new homes (increasing housing costs).
2. Increasing wetland regulations (increasing cost of land development).
3. Eliminating 100 ft gas allowance for gas lines to new homes (increasing housing costs).

There appears to be no quick reprieve coming for rising prices: “It’s not a bubble, it really is about the fundamentals.”
