5 YEARS AGO TODAY… MOOSE LODGE SENIOR PET SANCTUARY OFFICIALLY BEGAN.
On July 8, 2021, Moose Lodge Senior Pet Sanctuary was officially filed with New York State as a nonprofit corporation, created with one promise: to give senior pets in need of a safe home a loving place to live out their golden years with dignity, comfort, care, and endless love.
That promise began during a time when so many pets were being displaced, surrendered, or left behind.. many already in their senior years, with no one left to care for them. Our wonderful founders Deborah White and Dave Jacobs saw this during their time in the city and wanted to make a difference for any senior pet who needed somewhere safe to land.
Five years later, our little sanctuary is still living by that promise.
Over the years, Moose Lodge has provided sanctuary, care, and a forever home to over 80 senior rescues. Today, 18 senior dogs staying with Debbie and Dave call Moose Lodge SPS home.
And while it is a lot of hard work, they try to give every senior pup who comes home to Moose Lodge everything they need, not just to survive, but to thrive, feel safe, and live their final years in peace, even when others may have doubted them. 🐾💛
But the need has been much bigger than we ever imagined..
Every day, we receive letters, messages, and calls from people who have found a senior pet in need, or who no longer have the income, resources, or ability to care for their own senior pet. We seriously wish we could say yes to every single one, but our resources, space, and now the new regulations limit what we are able to do.
That is why we need your help.
This month, we are celebrating Moose Lodge’s 5th official birthday with a fundraiser to help keep this promise and mission going.
With rising care costs, new sanctuary/rescue regulations in New York, much needed repairs, supplies, medical needs, and the daily work that keeps the sanctuary running, we need our community now more than ever.

Because loving senior pets means loving them in every chapter of their life. We uphold our promise during their End of Life Chapter. Sometimes that chapter is longer than anyone expected.. sometimes it is painfully short, but every time, the PROMISE is the same.
