So you’re a queen… but what does that mean?! 👑
We’d like to take a moment to introduce the representatives of the 2026 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, and what it truly means to be a queen!
Each year, four young ladies are selected through a contest that tests their knowledge, poise, public speaking, professionalism, and horsemanship. This year, our title holders are…
Queen: Taina MacDonald
Queen Attendant: Jorden Price
Princess: Addison Staninger
Princess Attendant: Presleigh Holden

Royalty is a historical part of rodeo. What once used to be a fun contest of what girl could collect the most pennies in a jar has evolved into a program that sets high standards and provides exceptional opportunities for young women. The Douglas County Fair Foundation is proud to offer scholarship funds for our royalty to pursue higher education.
You may see these ambassadors at community events, parades, civic organization meetings, and of course rodeos!

June is here! ☀️And you know what that means…animals are getting shaped up for the fair in just two short months. Our swine grant recipients, Hunter and Kloie, have their pigs out and about prepping for the show ring. 🐷
Did you know that pigs in their grower phase can gain about 1.5 pounds per day? That can almost double during their finishing phase!

Supporting youth in Douglas County is what we’re all about, so it was extra special to have leather worker and DC 4H member, Jameson Lee, join us at The Rhinestone Cowboy Ball. Jameson has been in 4H for eight years, participating in shooting sports, beekeeping, leatherwork, Art of Ranching, and a variety of animal projects.
He’s had incredible honors and opportunities such as his Art of Ranching documentary being received by the Colorado State Historical Preservation Society. Jameson shared his leatherwork with guests at the ball, and it was a joy for so many people to get to know more about him!

Congratulations, Debbie Mills!
We are honored and proud!
Very well deserved!

You may not know the name, Debbie Mills, but if you’ve ever enjoyed a fun-filled day at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, you have her and dozens of other volunteers to thank. 🤠

Douglas County Commissioners welcomed Debbie, her fellow Fair Board Directors, and Fair & Rodeo staff this week to congratulate them on another award-winning year. For the second year in a row, the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo was named Best Large Rodeo of the Year by the Mountain States ProRodeo Circuit!

The Women’s Professional Rodeo Association named Debbie herself as Chairperson of the year in 2025 – honoring her behind-the-scenes dedication to the Fair and sold-out ProRodeo events in Douglas County.

Commissioners inducted Debbie into the Douglas County Hall of Fame for her accomplishments and her two decades of tireless work, dedication and passion to help build the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo into the premier event we know today. In honor of Debbie’s work as a role model and mentor to young women in the Fair & Royalty program, Commissioners announced they will also start a scholarship in Debbie’s name to continue her work in building up young women who are both athletes and ambassadors.

Our heartfelt congratulations to Debbie on industry recognition and for being inducted into the Douglas County Hall of Fame!!
