Where does the learning take place when youth raise animals and take part in agriculture?
Maybe it’s the early mornings when they make sure their animals are fed before they feed themselves.
It could also be the late nights watching over an animal that needs your help, and realizing you are the one responsible for its health and happiness.
Sometimes you learn from the hours spent training an animal that has a mind of its own, but eventually learns to trust you.
You learn what it means to take pride in your work when you present an animal that represents blood, sweat, and tears, and a sacred way of life.
You learn that without people who are willing to put in the work day in and day out, there’s no one to raise our food.
And every single lesson you learn goes with you beyond the barn yard and the show pen. It makes you a strong, compassionate, hard working member of society.
That’s what we support here as the Douglas County Fair Foundation.
