Opinion from DCCO: Teachers Deserve Better. Why We're Voting No.

Our position: reject this package and ask the board for a narrower, more teacher-focused proposal informed by an independent performance audit.

What Is Proposition NN? Douglas County Voters Face Two School Funding Questions

Proposition NN would let Colorado keep TABOR refunds for schools, and Douglas County School District is asking for a $54 million override. Both name teacher pay as a goal, and neither ballot question says how the two would fit together here.

OPINION: Why I'm Voting No on the DCSD Tax Until There's a Performance Audit
Douglas County School District gets an independent financial audit every year, but as far as we can find, never the kind that asks whether its existing money could do more.

Sean Hakes explains why that question, not teacher pay, is behind his no vote on the $54 million override.

The most they can legally take is $54,287,000. They are asking for $54,000,000. They published a list of what they would buy with it. They have not published how they got to the number.

Wonderful story!

Wonderful story!

Douglas County CO: We sat down (fictionally speaking!) with Ronny Webb to ask how a family from Louisiana ended up keeping Castle Rock’s roofs sturdy and its nights bright.

🎤 DCCO: So Ronny, take us back to 2020. What brought the Webb family all the way from Louisiana to Castle Rock?

🗣️ Ronny: It was actually a journey for my health that turned into a new life for us. I was traveling back and forth to National Jewish Health in Denver for treatments for Cystic Fibrosis. The time away from my wife and little girl was just too hard. We decided to make the move permanently in 2020 to be closer to my care team. Honestly, the elevation has been a blessing in disguise, and being here together is everything.

🎤 DCCO: We are so glad you’re here! And you didn’t waste any time getting to work. Tell us about the "Glowmigos."

🗣️ Ronny: (Laughs) I’ve always had a passion for home services. Glowmigos is our way of brightening up the neighborhood—literally! We specialize in permanent lighting and holiday lighting. We want homes to look magical year-round without the homeowners having to climb a ladder.

🎤 DCCO: Speaking of ladders, you’re also protecting homes with Colorado Property Services?

🗣️ Ronny: Exactly. Colorado weather is no joke! Through Colorado Property Services, we handle the tough stuff: Roofing, Gutters, Gutter Guards, and Cleaning. Whether it's protecting a roof from hail or making sure gutters are flowing right, we want our neighbors to feel safe and secure.

🎤 DCCO: From fighting a rare lung disease to fighting off bad weather for your neighbors—you guys are unstoppable.

🗣️ Ronny: We just love this community. We’re proud to call Castle Rock home!

Welcome to the neighborhood (officially), Webb Family! 👋
