Who We Are

The Lilly Pad Project makes angel gowns and bereavement kits for mourning families in Utah. All kits are made by donations and volunteers, and are provided at no cost to the families. We are a charitable 501(c)3 non-profit.

A message from Natalie: In 2009, My husband, Clint, and I had a stillborn baby girl we named Lilly--hence the name "The Lilly Pad." Losing her was a difficult thing to experience. In 2015, my little brother and his wife also had a stillborn baby girl. My heart broke for them. I offered to sew a burial dress for my little niece out of my sister-in-law's wedding dress. It was one of the saddest, most rewarding things I've ever done. It also helped me with the closure I never got when we lost our little girl. I love to sew, and I realized I had a way to help out grieving families.

When a baby is stillborn, the funeral arrangements and burial are time sensitive. It is extremely difficult to find preemie and micro preemie sized burial clothes; especially in our rural area. There's no time to order anything online, either.

A few years ago, a few friends and I came up with the idea for The Lilly Pad. We provide hospitals and mortuaries with burial clothing and keepsake kits for the grieving families at no cost. The kits include a burial outfit (usually made from donated wedding gowns), booties, a beanie hat or a headband, a matching set of blankets and jewelry or a stuffed animal. The purpose of the matching set of blankets and matching jewelry (for the girls) or stuffed animals (for the boys) is to bury the baby with one, and the parents keep the other one in a keepsake box.
