I’m struggling with the passing of Wilson. I love all animals but he, he held a very special place in my heart. Why? Because for 17 years he was the most patient and sweet being. He allowed ALL children to love on him, lead him through obstacles, brush him and even paint him at camps! In fact, often he would doze off during it all. He especially enjoyed napping during his horsey pedicures.
He was polite, careful of his surroundings and especially of little ones.
He touched lives everywhere he went. Including mine.

Sadly, Wilson has passed 🥹

Wilson was rescued from a neglect situation in Colorado about 16-17years ago. I have no idea how old he was then but he wasn’t a c**t by any means.

The past few days he has not been able to eat and is losing weight quickly.

Please send good thoughts as the vet tries to help him❤️

It’s Down syndrome awareness this month AND his school is celebrating today 🥰

Gman is one of my amazing sons and is one of my greatest blessings. He is kind, happy, loving, and brings so much joy to everyone around him. Down syndrome is part of his journey, but it does not define him. He continues to progress and experience new things continuously.
Watching him grow, learn, and love so unconditionally makes this momma’s heart so full ❤️

A 2026 study published in Scientific Reports by researchers at the University of California, Davis examined how a very short interaction with miniature horses and donkeys affected teenagers’ emotions.

The study included 61 adolescents, including 8 who were reported by their parents to have autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or both. Each participant completed a single 3-minute interaction with two miniature horses and two miniature donkeys.

The teenagers were randomly assigned to either gently stroke the animals’ backs or give firmer scratches around their necks, while the animals were free to approach, remain with, or walk away from them.

After just 3 minutes, the teenagers as a whole reported feeling calmer, less nervous or anxious, less sad, less lonely, and less excited. Calmness increased from 4.75 to 5.39, while nervousness fell from 2.57 to 1.97, loneliness from 2.05 to 1.59, sadness from 1.62 to 1.33, and excitement from 4.99 to 4.52 on the study’s rating scale.

The way the animals responded also appeared to matter: teenagers who noticed the horses or donkeys displaying lip-wiggling behavior had larger reductions in loneliness, while those who saw an animal voluntarily walk away showed larger reductions in sadness.

After losing Dozer last week to bone cancer we got hit again yesterday with terrible news. Sammie has to undergo a 3 month long rigorous treatment. There’s a chance her body will not be able to handle such a strong treatment I’m told. There will be hospital stays hooked up to an IV and lots of medications. There are blockages in her arteries that could lead to a blood clot and cause heart failure so she’s also not supposed to run (her favorite activity)🥹. If you can send good thoughts her way it is much appreciated. My heart can’t handle much more right now. Thank you 🫶
