Last week Colleen Killen-Roberts and Erick Stewart traveled to Ohio to launch a new program with Burton D. Morgan Foundation and Peg's Foundation — marking the first time our three organizations have collaborated on an event!

The evening focused on the importance of self-care for entrepreneurs, with an emphasis on mental wellness. The group kicked things off with a peer discussion, followed by dinner and a fireside chat.

During their visit, Colleen and Erick also had the chance to catch up with Ohio members of the American Academy of Entrepreneurs mentoring program.

Thank you to everyone who attended, as well as Burton D. Morgan Foundation and Peg’s Foundation for their partnership!

This week the Cass County Historical Society visited Big Rock Valley (BRV)!

Led by Chris Ryback, our director of IT and heritage, the group visited the Penn Church and headquarters building. They discussed how the former Quaker meeting house — now Penn Church — was relocated to BRV in 1987, as well as the unfortunate fire that led to the construction of the foundation’s new headquarters.

As a neat addition, two of the guests had visited the church previously, one to attend a revival service in 1951 and another for her wedding in 1993!

Thank you for stopping by!

Recently, the Michigan State Police (MSP) conducted a training exercise at Big Rock Valley!

Nearly 75 MSP representatives were involved, including troopers, detectives and crime scene analysts from the MSP Forensic Laboratory. The scenario lasted around eight hours with five separate scenes consisting of forensic, eyewitness and digital evidence.

Goals of this training included measuring response time, readiness, communication, organization and incident command structures. Employees of the Edward Lowe Foundation also participated in the exercise as role players and support staff.

We appreciate this opportunity to support the MSP and our local community!
