Hiking Club Update:
Unfortunately, the weather isn’t going to cooperate with us today. With scattered showers and pop-up thunderstorms in the forecast, today’s Hiking Club outing is canceled.

The COA will also be closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day, so our next hiking adventure will be:

🌳 Monday, September 14
🥾 Saugatuck Dunes State Park

Registration is required for this hike, so be sure to sign up if you’re planning to join us!

What a beautiful day for a walk! Our Walking Club enjoyed an energizing adventure along the Kal-Haven Trail yesterday. Perfect weather, beautiful scenery, and great company made for a wonderful morning on the trail! 🌳☀️👟

Meet Onyx — Our Future COA Therapy Dog! 🐾

In honor of National Dog Day, we have some exciting news to share!

Meet Onyx, a one-year-old black Lab and the newest (and furriest) member of the Cass County COA family. ❤️

Onyx came to us through Cass County Animal Control and participated in a training program through Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan. Soon, she'll begin additional professional training with Dog Training Elite Michiana to prepare for her new role as the COA's Therapy Dog.

Once her training is complete, Onyx will start spending time at the COA providing companionship, comfort, smiles and plenty of tail wags to the older adults we serve.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped Onyx become the super pup she is today. Her journey from Cass County Animal Control to future COA Therapy Dog is a wonderful example of what can happen when organizations and people in our community work together.

There's just one important piece of business left to settle: her official COA job title.

A few weeks ago, the Market One team had the pleasure of attending the Cass County Council on Aging's Grand Fest and Ribbon Cutting celebration for their Adult Day Service expansion. 🎉
We are especially proud of our own Katie Multhauf, who encouraged and assisted the Council on Aging in hosting the ribbon cutting and connected them with our partners at the Cassopolis Chamber of Commerce. It was wonderful to see so many community partners and leaders come together to celebrate this important milestone and the expanded services that will benefit older adults throughout our community.
