employU empowers clients and pushes them to do more than they ever thought they could! Our clients are empowered to develop their skills, build confidence, and showcase their abilities. Isis is a great example of this. Through her work experience at Walgreens, she has strengthened her skills and continues to demonstrate her abilities every day. Isis started with the goal of stocking shelves, but after some encouragement from her Employment Specialist, Meagan, and support from the Walgreens team, she has expanded her role to operating the cash register and helping customers. Her positive attitude and willingness to learn have helped her build confidence and exceed expectations. Isis hopes to join the Walgreens team permanently, and she is already working toward future goals, including buying a car.

After having a brain tumor as a child, Ava now lives with neurocognitive disorders, epilepsy, and mobility differences, but she continues to learn new skills with determination and a positive attitude. She is gaining valuable work experience through her paid internship at the Man In The Sea Museum and with support from her Area Coordinator, Ayden, she learned to operate the cash register, stock the gift shop, and help keep museum exhibits running smoothly throughout the day. Her training gave her the opportunity to grow her independence and prepare for future employment. We are grateful to the Man in the Sea Museum for providing Ava with a welcoming place to learn and succeed.

Dreams can become reality with the right support and determination. Ketraun, a person with an intellectual disability and moderate cerebral palsy, set his sights on working at Publix and made it happen. With guidance from his Employment Specialist, Tami, he built his interview skills, prepared for the job, and was hired after just 90 days. Today, more than two years later, Ketraun is a valued member of the Publix team, where he bags groceries, retrieves carts, and enjoys helping customers to their cars. We are proud of everything he has accomplished and grateful to Publix for providing an opportunity for Ketraun to grow his skills and independence.
