Potlatch Cook’s Lake Nature Center Potlatch Cook's Lake Nature Center near Casscoe is a perfect destination for you and your students.

Along with scheduled educational programs, trails for hiking, birding and photo opportunities are available. Around 40 of the 52 weekends in the year, public programs are offered (please check our on-line calendar) as well as Teacher In-service, Audubon and Scout opportunities and conservation-minded programs are welcomed. This conservation education facility operates under a joint agreement betwe

en the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. It is 20 miles southeast of Stuttgart on the White River National Wildlife Refuge. The 72-acre facility is surrounded by 1,800 acres of upland and bottomland hardwood forest that includes a 3-mile long oxbow lake and a 40-acre green timber reservoir.

It’s going to be a great weekend to do a little fishing. The lake is officially open Fridays and Saturdays- 8am-4pm for youth under 16 (2 adults) and Mobility Impaired (2 others). Please see AGFC website for Mobility Impaired Permit Restrictions.

Thanks to a partnership between the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Department of Rural Services, fines collected for wildlife violations are used to fund grants for education.
Grant awards vary across the state depending on the request and the available funds in each county. Most past grant requests were funded at $1,500.
🚌 ELIGIBLE GRANT ACTIVITIES
• Field trips to AGFC nature centers or hatcheries
• AGFC-sanctioned archery and trap programs
• AGFC-sponsored educator workshops
• Schoolyard wildlife and butterfly habitats
• Outdoor classroom supplies
