LOCAL SHELTER DOG JUMPS OVER 6-FOOT KENNEL WALL TO BE WITH HIS LOVE 🥹

Shelter staff noticed something unusual upon checking on the dogs.

Two dogs in one kennel! How did this happen? This must be a mistake. Or perhaps a volunteer accidentally put two dogs in one kennel.

Until it happened again...

And then everything became very clear.
Peter the shelter dog launched himself over his 6-foot kennel wall to get back to Merry.

These two played together in the kennel, stood side by side at the gate watching volunteers walk by, and wagged their tails together.

This was no accident.

This was love.

Now the Niagara SPCA is hoping to adopt these two dogs together. After all, Peter jumped a 6-foot wall to be with Merry...twice!

Please don't let this be the end of their love story.

Because Merry desperately waited for her happily ever after... and Peter already seems to know exactly where he wants to be.

Huge shout out to our awesome employee Jacob for rescuing this scared cat that was stuck up in a tree. No matter the height, we were getting that cat back down safe where it belongs. Moments like this are what it’s all about, helping when it matters most. 🐾🌲💚

Meet Irwin!
Irwin is a one-year-old Husky mix with a huge personality, an even bigger heart, and plenty of energy to share. He truly has never met a stranger — he assumes everyone he meets is instantly his friend. Whether it’s new people, familiar faces, or fellow pups, Irwin greets the world with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a happily wagging tail.
Irwin is an extremely high-energy boy who thrives in an active environment. He loves long walks, playtime, mental stimulation, and being involved in whatever his people are doing. He would do best in a home that can keep him engaged throughout the day and provide regular outlets for his physical and mental energy. When he’s properly exercised and stimulated, he truly shines.
He is great with other dogs and enjoys play, making him a wonderful companion for an active household. Irwin has a friendly, confident, and good-natured temperament. Since being recently neutered, we’ve also noticed a sweeter, softer side — once he’s had enough exercise, he enjoys relaxing, cuddling, and spending quiet time with his people.
Irwin is fully potty trained and does very well in his crate, where he is comfortable and calm. He already knows basic commands like sit and down, and he is currently working with a trainer to continue learning new skills. True to his Husky nature, Irwin is independent at times, but he is also eager to learn and responds well to consistent, positive guidance. With structure and follow-through, he continues to make great progress.
On leash, Irwin enjoys walks and exploring his surroundings, and with continued training he will keep improving. His ideal home is one that understands the needs of a young, active Husky — daily exercise, mental enrichment, continued training, and gentle guidance toward calm when needed.
Irwin is full of joy, personality, and potential. He’s ready for a forever home that will embrace his playful spirit, support his growth, and appreciate the affectionate, adventurous companion he’s becoming. Just a reminder that with warm spring weather, there will be puppies and kittens needing a safe place and loving homes. Currently, most rescues are still full and adoption rates are down. The only humane solution to the current pet overpopulation crisis is SPAY/NEUTER!

I spied this on our alumni King Magnus moms’ fb page! Had to steal! This poor boy suffered the unimaginable... literally. So bad i dont even want to say it again it is so disturbing. He was rescued from the south and brought back here to be vetted and get healthy. He now lives with the best family in Massachusetts and i will forever be grateful to his adopters and all those who helped make his rescue (and his brother we also rescued& was adopted as well to wonderful, amazing folks) possible so many years ago!
