SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY for students of Cass City, Michigan!
VFW Post 3644, Cass City, MI, is now accepting entries for the 2026-2027 Patriots' Pen & Voice of Democracy youth scholarship competition.

These national contests empower middle school & high school students to express their patriotism & compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships — including up to $35,000 at the national level. Cash prizes are awarded at local post, District Region, State Department & National levels.

A heartfelt thank you to all who supported our spaghetti dinner.

Even though these students are on summer vacation, they still show up to support our veterans with their monthly spaghetti dinner!

The Cass City VFW post is having a Spaghetti Dinner this Wednesday, June 17th, from 4:30PM to 6:30PM. Carry outs are available. Cost is just a donation. The sign says it all!

Some information on how Flag Day came to be.

June 14 honors the day the Stars and Stripes was born in 1777. But the road from a single resolution to a nationally recognized Flag Day took nearly two centuries, a Wisconsin schoolteacher, and two presidents.

Please join the Cass City VFW as we remember and honor those who died defending our country.
Cass City will host its traditional Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 25, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. Following the parade, a formal ceremony honoring fallen veterans will be held at the Elkland Township Cemetery (6987 Cass City Road, Cass City, MI).

What is Memorial Day?
Observed on the last Monday in May, Memorial Day is an annual day of remembrance to honor all those who died in service to the U.S. during peacetime and war. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, and volunteers place American flags on graves at national cemeteries. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. local time.

The Cass City VFW visited the Owendale-Gagetown Area Schools to educate students on American Flag Etiquette. The history of the American Flag and the National Anthem was discussed, followed by a question-and-answer period. Students were provided with the VFW pamphlet "Our Flag Things You Should Know".

Please donate to the Cass City VFW Buddy Poppy Drive this Friday and Saturday, May 8 & 9. Veterans will be collecting at the stoplight in Cass City and Ben's Supercenter - Cass City. All donations support local veterans.
