SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY for students of Cass City, Michigan!
VFW Post 3644, Cass City, MI, is now accepting entries for the 2026-2027 Patriots' Pen & Voice of Democracy youth scholarship competition.

These national contests empower middle school & high school students to express their patriotism & compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships — including up to $35,000 at the national level. Cash prizes are awarded at local post, District Region, State Department & National levels.
This year's theme: "What A Veteran Taught Me About America"

Cass City will host its traditional Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 25, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. Following the parade, a formal ceremony honoring fallen veterans will be held at the Elkland Township Cemetery (6987 Cass City Road, Cass City, MI).

Observed on the last Monday in May, Memorial Day is an annual day of remembrance to honor all those who died in service to the U.S. during peacetime and war. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, and volunteers place American flags on graves at national cemeteries. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. local time.

The Cass City VFW visited the Owendale-Gagetown Area Schools to educate students on American Flag Etiquette. The history of the American Flag and the National Anthem was discussed, followed by a question-and-answer period. Students were provided with the VFW pamphlet "Our Flag Things You Should Know".
