I’m excited to announce that I am officially a Yoga for First Responders affiliate and soon to be teacher in training.

The first time I tried yoga was after my attempt. And I felt like I finally took a deep breathe. Maybe for the first time ever in my life.

Not a survival breath. Not the kind you take while bracing for impact or pushing through another hard day. A real breath.

And I cried for 12 weeks straight in a room full of strangers releasing the trauma that had been stored in my body.

With all the hats that I wear in the first responder world as a therapist, former officer, and wife of a first responder, I know firsthand how trauma, chronic stress, and hypervigilance live inside the body long after the shift ends. First responders are trained to stay activated in crisis, but very few are ever taught how to safely come back down from it.

What drew me to Yoga for First Responders is the therapeutic and science backed approach behind it. This work focuses on nervous system regulation, breath work, and helping first responders and their families reconnect with their bodies in a way that feels safe and practical. I already do this in one on one therapy with clients and it just makes sense for me to do this in a class setting.

I am incredibly honored to become an affiliate for an organization doing such meaningful work and thankful for the opportunity to continue supporting first responders and their families through an approach that recognizes the connection between mental health, the body, and the nervous system.

Watch for updates and information on when and where classes will begin. Check out their website and my affiliate link below.

National Police Week carries a weight most people will never fully understand.

It is the weight of empty chairs at kitchen tables.
The weight of hypervigilance that follows officers home after shift.
The weight carried by spouses, children, dispatchers, partners, and entire departments who quietly hold one another together.

At SHIFT, we honor the men and women who continue to answer the call even on the hard days. We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and the families forever changed by that loss.

But we also want to say this clearly:
You are more than the badge.
More than the uniform.
More than the trauma you have survived.

Behind every title is a human being worthy of support, rest, healing, and honest conversation.

This week we honor courage.
We honor sacrifice.
And we honor the people behind the profession.

From all of us at SHIFT, thank you for standing watch over our communities and for continuing to show up when it costs you something to do so.

Supporting heroes, individuals, families, and teams.

The Police Week Block Party continues to be a strong tradition in Natrona County.

Each year, agencies come together to spend time with the public in a setting that allows for conversation and connection. The evening will include a free BBQ, music, face painting, games, K9s, and police equipment for the community to explore.

We hope you’ll take the opportunity to join us this Wednesday from 5-7pm at David Street Station.
