You know him as Mr. Casper, but we know him as this year’s Gala Auctioneer…Please welcome Nat Steinhoff to Canvas of Curiosities!

“Make a Robot. Feel More Human”
For this month’s Free Discovery Center Project, we are creating bots inspired by the art movement, Botjoy!

Bots are small robots drawn on the back of dominos, but they are so much more.

You can make a Brave Bot to help a friend feel less scared. You could make a Joy Bot to celebrate a family member's kindness. When you make someone a Bot you give them a little emotional boost of joy, bravery, hope, etc. Whatever your intention, a Bot helps you express it. It is amazing how a small robot can help you feel more human.

Botjoy isn’t just an art project, it’s a worldwide community. There are hundreds of students, teachers, crafters, artists, and doodlers making Bots and gifting them to people in their lives.

Botjoy is the creation of Portland, Oregon artist Gary Hirsch. Gary painted his first Bot on the back of a domino in 2010. To date, he has painted over 64,000 domino Bots and created Botjoy murals in cities throughout the world.
