Regarding House Bill 135 . . .

I have just finished a phone conference with Wyoming equality and the Wyoming association of Churches and we have come up with the plan to address House bill 135 which would make it impossible for anti-discrimination policies or ordinances in any level of government or private entities.
One of the best arguments in opposition to HB 135. this is going to be that it would jeopardize significant revenue for the state. . .
Businesses testified in past legislative sessions that they would not move there businesses here because we wouldn't pass anti-discrimination laws . . . and this is an outright Discrimination Bill.
We would be in the same predicament as NC with folks boycotting the state . .. We would be boycotted, significantly impacting the tourism industry. Possible economic stimulus opportunities may well pass Wyoming by. . .
Musicians, Events, conferences may choose to go elsewhere as they have done in NC. . .
Elderly who have had GLBTQ family return to care for them will be forced with the decision to leave . . . kids that moved back to this state. . . will leave. . .
We CAN NOT afford more economic loss!

The second argument that has the most push will be the faith angle.
This is driven in large part from folks that are saying serving GLBTQ infringes on their Religious freedom
Anyone who can say that their religious freedom is not threatened by having nondiscrimination policies in place, should do so . . .

The argument you will hear from you reps is that it is a bill to prevent discrimination, because people feel they are being discriminated against if they don’t have the right to Deny services to LGBTQ folks.
Here is what the bill does:
Please go to this link before you write letters or make calls
https://www.aclu-wy.org/en/news/government-discrimination-act-overview-hb-135

- We ask that you write letters to the editor and to your representatives
- That you call your representatives
- That you e-mail your representatives
- Educate your friends on what the bill really does
- Send them the link and ask them to write letters and tell their friends
If you are Business owner. . . DEFINITELY PLAY THAT CARD!
Finally, there will be a gathering of faith communities before the second reading of the bill unless (if we are lucky) it is killed before then.
It has been determined that this is the best route . . so. . . whether you are a Unitarian, Presbyterian, member of the UCC Casper, . . Buddhist, Muslim or whatever we will want you there.
If you are an Atheist, come stand behind a banner. . . We want you there. . . you are spiritual beings and you matter as deeply as the rest! it would merely be an alternative fact . . . . ;)

It will be short notice and it will be on a work day no doubt which creates limitations, but I will put out the call as quickly as possible

In unity. . . In community

Please take the time to send some messages to these folks.
I know its easy to just throw your hands up and say it wont make any difference, but
sometimes it really does. . .

The Wyoming State Legislature is considering a bill that, if passed, would become the most oppressive and wide-ranging anti-LGBT law in the nation. (See the link for the ACLU of Wyoming's overview of House Bill 135: https://www.aclu-wy.org/…/government-discrimination-act-ove…

Wyoming is a small state with 560,000* people but we still have a significant amount of gay people. I want to start a non profit to benefit them and create an all inclusive group for everyone in the LGBTQA+ family, allies and all to find any and all resources they may need. We will host events a...

FRODO: I can’t do this, Sam.
SAM: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened.
But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something.
FRODO: What are we holding on to, Sam?
SAM: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.
