Thursdays are better with the Mustang Buds!

Here are the Mustang Buds from the NC football team having a blast playing flag tag with our Club members! Over the past month, these awesome young men have gone above and beyond to make sure every child feels included and has a great time.

Our kids look forward to their visits every Thursday, and we absolutely love having them at the Club! Thank you, Mustang Buds, for being such positive role models and making Thursdays so much fun!

WOW! Just look at what Five Trails Rotary and their volunteers have accomplished! 🌱

We are so grateful to Five Trails Rotary and every volunteer who gave their time, energy and hard work to build out the entire inside of our greenhouse. What an incredible gift to our Club kids! The dedication and care you’ve put into this project mean so much to us, and we can’t thank you enough for investing in our youth and helping create new opportunities for them to learn and grow.

It takes a special community to turn a vision into something real, and we are so fortunate to have people and organizations who are willing to roll up their sleeves and make it happen. Thank you for being part of something that will benefit our kids for years to come!

And a special thank-you to the Jack Lenhart Family for their generous donation toward making this greenhouse possible. 💙

Last week, nearly 40 staff from nine of our 11 Clubs spent the morning learning, collaborating, and building a toolbox of strategies surrounding behavior support and response.

As a team of professionals, we believe that youth do well if they can, and it’s our job to help them feel regulated, connected, and safe enough to be their best selves.
That looks like building strong relationships, teaching essential skills like self-regulation and conflict resolution, and providing the support youth need to be successful.

We’re proud of our staff for continuing to grow their skills and strengthen the way we support young people across our Clubs.

Pokémon Club has been a huge hit this year!

Members have been having a blast building decks, trading cards, playing video games, and sharing their love of all things Pokémon. It’s been so much fun watching kids connect over a shared interest while learning, strategizing, and making new friends along the way!

🥊 Celebrating Michael Rickard, 2026 BGCCW Alumni Hall of Fame inductee!

Michael was a Boys & Girls Club member from 1978 to 1982. He spent his summers at the Club, participated in boxing and built memories that stayed with him long after his Club years.

At his Hall of Fame induction, Michael reflected on what the Club gave him and the foundation it helped build.

“A kid can walk through your doors not knowing what they're capable of and walk out with a foundation that holds for the rest of their life. I'm standing here because of that foundation.”

Michael went on to become a Navy SEAL and eventually served as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He credits lessons from his time at the Club, including hard work and serving others, as lasting influences throughout his career and life.

We’re proud to celebrate Michael and the lasting impact of his Boys & Girls Club experience. Congratulations on your induction into the 2026 BGCCW Alumni Hall of Fame!

We’re excited to introduce a new JR Staff opportunity at the Verda James Club- Peace Officers!

Fourth and fifth grade members who demonstrate kindness, self-control, and great collaboration with staff can earn the role of Peace Officer. These young leaders help support younger members when they’re having a tough moment and assist with resolving peer conflicts in a positive way.

At the end of each month, our Peace Officers are celebrated with a pizza party to recognize the wonderful example they’re setting for others. We’re so proud to see our members stepping up as caring, responsible leaders at the Club!

💙 Celebrating Chris Usry, 2026 BGCCW Alumni Hall of Fame inductee!

Chris was a Boys & Girls Club member from 1991 to 1997. Her years at the Club helped shape her love of working with young people and the path she would take in her career.

At her Hall of Fame induction, Chris reflected on the people she remembers most from her time at the Club.

“The people I remember, the people who made all the difference to me, were the people who showed up every day for us at the Club.”

Chris also talked about what she learned from the adults who worked at the Club.
“You don't hang out at the Club and work with kids for 20 years. You have to care about kids, and that's what I remember.”

Today, Chris serves as Assistant Principal at Pathways Innovation Center, where she continues to work with young people and help them build their futures.

We’re proud to celebrate Chris and the lasting impact of her Boys & Girls Club experience. Congratulations on your induction into the 2026 BGCCW Alumni Hall of Fame!
