Safety is the number one concern for our guests. YOUR RESPONSIBILITY CODE
Skiing can be enjoyed in many ways. At ski areas you may see people using alpine, snowboard, telemark, cross country and other specialized ski equipment, such as that used by adaptive or other skiers. Regardless of how you decide to enjoy the slopes, always show courtesy to others and be aware that there are elements of ris

k in skiing that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Observe the code listed below and share with other skiers the responsibility for a great skiing experience. KNOW THE CODE. IT’S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
- Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
- People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
- You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.
- Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
- Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
- Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
- Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely. This is a partial list. Be safety conscious.

The inaugural C Crew Chili Cook Off took place last Saturday at Hogadon Basin Ski Area in the Casper Ski Patrol hut. It was a fiercely contested event between the 4 C crew patrollers with a close call between their Chili masterpieces. The event got so hot under the collar that a few patrollers started sweating as the chili took effect and accusations soon started to fly back and forth between the patrollers. Fortunately the lawyers dismissed a recount and ignored any impartial judges, or any evidence of bribing or threats that had been issued during the course of the competition. Once the patrollers simmered down a clear winner was determined and it was none other than our boy from New Mexico, Mike Shimming who pipped everyone at the post with his traditional New Mexico Chili! He summarized his win with a few words “I’m happy that my chili was recognized to be a deserved winner and that I’m The Chili King and the man to beat! I like to thank all my supporters, my son who voted for me, as well as Jason who I owe $10. Also the other 3 contenders who also voted for me and who seem quite relieved that I would be taking the trophy home. I look forward to taking on all contenders next year as I aim to hold my title and have laid out the marker that I’m the man to beat. THE GOAT!”
Apparently Tom Brady himself had reached out to congratulate Mike and see if he could get a bowl himself!
Well done to the man he is a deserved winner!

With every pair of boots comes a conversation that
would have never happened! Casper Mountain Ski Patrol was honored to attend the Jae Foundation “Boot Check-In” event. After learning about Jae’s story and their core values, each patroller was gifted a pair of Jae Foundation Boots with a powerful message about mental health awareness, su***de prevention and resilience. The Ski Patrollers will wear their boots with pride and as a reminder to check in on friends, family and colleagues so they know that they matter, loved, valued and meant to be here! Please check out the Jae Foundation https://jaefoundation.com. CMSP would like to thank Jae Foundation and everyone who made this happen!
