Today would have been his 7th gotcha day
It’s time to share his story.

I got Axel when I was in 8th grade, he was my best friend and helped me through a lot of tough times. There came a time when he fell sick. I took him to the vet, and they recommended testing to figure out what was wrong with him. But I was 17 and didn’t have access to the funds needed for this. I had a few choices, apply for care credit, which was denied because I was underage. Or I could apply for a grant from local humane societies who have funds for this reason, to which Axel was denied because he was a “pocket pet”. My last and really only choice was to use whatever money I had and pay for medication that could help him without really knowing what was wrong. After a day of treatments Axel had passed in my arms. This was hard moment in my life and one where I had a lot of “what ifs”, like what if I could have afforded testing? Would he have still been alive? Questions like these are hard ones, ones people and families should never have to go through. That’s why the No Animal Left Behind Project was created. A funds account to help with unexpected veterinary expenses, to any type of pet. This project was made to help people and families, but along the way I am reminded of a love I once had, and the angel that now inspired this project.
