Promote an environment beneficial to our members and the broader industry. Education
Create pathways for growers and vintners to optimize their business through knowledge and understanding. Connectivity
- Facilitate opportunities for members & broader industry to network;
- Provide partners and policymakers access to the industry; and

The West Coast Smoke Exposure Task Force (WCSETF) will host its annual Smoke Summit on Monday, June 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (PT).

Free to attend and open to all participants, the summit will bring together leading researchers and industry experts who will share the latest in wildfire smoke exposure research and how it's being applied in vineyard and winery decision, practical guidance on interpreting lab results, understanding key smoke markers, and how to use the information to make timely decisions.

Dr. Markus Keller, Viticulture Professor at Washington State University, will share results from field trials testing the use of undervine foggers and the use of supplemental irrigation before or during heat waves. He will discuss impacts on vine growth, yield, fruit composition, and water use. Dr. Lav Khot from WSU’s AgWeatherNet will present the implementation of AgWeatherNet Smart Farms for sensor-guided heat stress management. He will also highlight smartphone and weather-guided web tools available within AgWeathertNet to help growers with effectively mitigating heat stress.

The fund awards up to $5,000 to a Washington wine industry professional with at least five years of experience to travel to an established wine-producing region and learn practices that support their career and benefit the industry.

You can help protect Washington by reporting Japanese beetle sightings! Keep an eye open while you are outdoors. Roses are their favorite snack, but they will eat over 300 different types of plants. If you think you see one, get a close photo of the beetle. Visit agr.wa.gov/beetles to report it, or email the photo to [email protected]. Your report could help us stop the spread of this invasive pest.
