Summit Charter School Summit Charter School is a K-12 tuition-free public school in Cashiers, NC. At Summit, learning is an exciting adventure.

Located in the beautiful mountains of Cashiers, North Carolina, Summit offers a high-quality and unique K-12 educational program that connects students to the many wonderful environmental and community resources that surround the school. Imagine studying geology while hiking the Chattooga River, or forces and motion while scaling Looking Glass Mountain, or American History and heritage through the

cultural voices of the Cherokee Indians. Learning takes on tremendous value when academic rigor is combined with character education and first-hand experiences through local field studies and place-based excursions. Summit is a *tuition-free* public charter school. For the 2022-23 school year, we will serve 295 students and 45 faculty and staff, representing five counties in rural western North Carolina.

We are thrilled to have dedicated our newly revitalized athletic fields yesterday evening! 🌟 Over the past 18 months, tremendous amounts of hard work, heart, generous gifts, and in-kind resources have yielded the beautiful athletic complex our Bears now proudly call home.

In Spring 2025, six students (Eli Betty, Victoria Clement, Josh Doerter, Thomas Miller, Sydney Sinclair, Blake Snoey) spearheaded a vision to create a safe, world-class athletic environment on campus. Partnering with our community of believers and doers, months of commitment and resources have resulted in a regulation-sized main field, new scoreboard, stadium lighting, bleachers, press box, covered players’ benches, fencing and netting, hardscaping, and a new fenced practice field. Our Varsity Boys soccer christened Summit Field with a 3-0 win last night after the dedication, too! ⚽

Cheers to 30 years! We were so honored to celebrate three incredible decades with our founders, community supporters, generous donors, and faculty and staff ✨

From Summit’s storied past to its buzzing present and exciting future, the evening was a beautiful reminder of what is possible when a community believes in a school and its mission. We are deeply grateful to the generations of families, educators, supporters, and students who have helped make Summit what it is today — and whose continued support will help sustain this special place for generations to come.
