Hi Parents!
I hope your summer is off to a great start. I apologize for the late delivery of this info, this month has been crazy! Please keep in mind that as we discussed at the meeting in May, we will not be having formal meetings for the summer. We may start up again in August, but we will reach out to families closer to that time. We have been made aware of a few volunteer opportunities that we wanted to present to you. The community garden in Casey is looking for volunteers to help with the care of the garden. This may include some weeding, although we have been told it is minimal and some picking of vegetables. The girls completing this service would qualify for a gardening badge. Our thoughts were to have a girl volunteer for care of the garden for a week at a time. If you are interested in this opportunity, please reach out to one of the leaders and we will get you signed up and give you further instructions. Depending on the response we have for this opportunity, we may have additional opportunities soon.
We spoke at our last Girl Scout meeting regarding uniforms. I will also be sharing this information on our page. As a group, we decided that parents will purchase the sash or vest. The troop will do a bulk order, so we are asking parents to let us know if they would like the sash or vest. Daisies (Girls going into Kindergarten and 1st grade in the Fall) can get vests or tunics for $19.50 each. Brownies (Girls going into 2nd grade and 3rd grade in the Fall) can choose a vest $20.50 or a sash for $9.00. Juniors(Girls going into 4th grade in the Fall) can choose a sash for $9.00 or a vest for $21.50. Vest and Tunic sizes are listed below the pictures. Sashes come in regular or Extra long. Daisies are blue, Brownies are brown, and Juniors are green. We are asking that parents choose the option and the size for their child, keeping in mind that your girl may wear this for up to two years. Parents will then pay the troop for the item ordered and we will place a bulk order to save on shipping. If anyone needs assistance paying for the uniform, please reach out to Renee, Katie, or Brandi. We would like to have the order placed by June 30, so that we can receive the uniforms and distribute them at our next meeting in August or September.
In addition to the vest, sash, or tunic, the girls should have an all white shirt to wear. This is part of the uniform and we will wear them when we are participating in community events, such as parades, or sales events. Typically, Girl Scouts recommends khaki bottoms with the white shirts. However, we are not as concerned with the bottoms at this time.
Sizes are XXS (4-5), XS(6-6x), S (7-8), M (10-12), L(14-16), XL(18), XXL (20)
