A big shout out to the students, teachers and staff at Monroe school. As an act of service leading up to the Super Bowl, they collected over 1700 canned food items as a "Soup"er Bowl food drive. Some teachers, staff and students even delivered it to the pantry, helped sort items and stock shelves and box food for use in future months. The amount of soup donated will easily cover what we distribute in 5 months. Well done Monroe School!

The Brew Crew volunteered today to pack for Blessings-in-a-Backpack for local students.

We learned that each bag has 6 meals and we packed 182 bags, that’s 1,092 meals!! We only bring this to your attention so that you or your organization can give back by volunteering or giving monaterily to the the Casey Ministerial Association.

A typical team will pack two weeks worth of food. This means they provide or supplement meals for many Monroe School students EVERY SCHOOL WEEK.

Working at our food pantry involves tasks like receiving and sorting donated food, stocking shelves, packing and ensuring a respectful and efficient distribution process, all with the goal of providing food assistance to individuals and families in need within our community. Would you consider volunteering your time and giving monetary donations to our amazing community. Thank you for allowing us to serve.

November has been a record month for the Casey Food Pantry. 93 Households served, representing 230 individuals. Thank you donors and volunteers for taking care of the most basic need of our neighbors.

This is a January to June 2023 comparison to the same 6 month time frame in 2024:
Weight of food distributed - up 11% to 22,000 pounds.
Cost of food distributed - up 16% to $33,278 for an average of $5,500 per month.

The need is real. And our donors are UNREAL! Thank you to all who continue to bless this community through the Casey Food Pantry.

The third Wednesday of the month is this week - March 20. That means it is DISTRIBUTION DAY!!! Start by coming through the East doors for the Casey First Baptist Church. We will register newcomers and log the visit for those in the system. We start at 1:00. This month congregants from Casey United Methodist Church and Casey Cumberland Presbyterian Church will be serving their neighbors at the pantry.

I feel I need to personally make something clear. Many people have been expressing gratitude for what I do with the food pantry and I am grateful for the encouragement. But I need you to know, I am able to meet the needs of others because there is an army of volunteers and donors and organizations making this work. I spend money - a lot of it - and none of it is my own. The real work of food pantry is done predominately by volunteer crews from local churches, local service organizations and even school students. I am simply the face everyone sees regularly, but there are many faces behind me that love this community and everyone who participates! Everyone deserves love, respect and kindness...and sometimes food. Hopefully our neighbors receive all of that from us. Thank you to the partners, donors and volunteers of the Casey Food Pantry! THANK YOU!
