We're back to not having a shelter for our little donkeys.:(
The one that was built for us caved in some time ago. The boys had been using their old, dilapidated shelter... but, a large tree fell on it today. Demolished the old shelter and the fence. We are in desperate need of a shelter for two mini donks. 🙏

Well, despite the heroic efforts of Stan, the firefighters, and the vet, Fiona passed away during the night. The vet had given her warm IV fluids, calcium, dextrose, and banamine. Her physical exam was normal. She had blankets, hay, and warm water. She just couldn't find the strength to stand up again.

Fiona had an interesting life. She was likely in her mid to late 30's. She was a premarin mare in Canada. She was perpetually kept pregnant. She was rescued from that life by The Pegasus Foundation.
She also spent some time as a riding therapy horse at Three Gaits until she made it clear that she no longer wanted to be ridden. She was a favorite horse of a family in Mequon; they eventually surrendered her to Touching Smiles Equine Rescue and Therapy so she could retire.
Fiona lived her last 17 years at Touching Smiles. She was very smart and would find ways to get out of her pasture, but she never went far from home.
We will miss Fiona every day. ❤️

I'm not usually one for prayers, but we need them now! Fiona, our oldest baby, is stuck in mud up to her chest! The fire department is here, trying to help in the cold rain. She must be so cold!!! Pray they get her out and that she survives this! 💔💔💔😭

This may be a duplicate post - there's so much junk on Facebook that I can't find my own posts!
I need to run a fundraiser. We are in need of a permanent shelter to replace a temporary one that we've been using for three of our mini ambassadors. We're in a time crunch to get this done before winter!
No donation is too small!

It's been a while since I've had to run a fundraiser... but, donations are way down, and the horses continue to need various things.
For years, we've been using a frame/tarp shelter in our round pen for temporary use. Now, it's apparent that this has to become a permanent location for three of the minis.
We will be getting a new shelter for these three minis. We're hoping to get this taken care of before our Wisconsin winter hits!

We thought we'd escaped any issues from the big snow dump we've had, but we did have a casualty - the roof collapsed on the donkies' main shelter. They don't seem to have been injured, and they do have a smaller, older one that they can still use to get away from the wind.
