Today, we honor Juneteenth β a day of reflection, remembrance, freedom, and hope.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sun Corridor, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential in an environment where they feel safe, valued, respected, and empowered. Today, we celebrate the resilience, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history and recognize the importance of continuing to build communities rooted in equity, opportunity, and inclusion.
As we celebrate Juneteenth, let us reflect on the progress made, honor those who paved the way, and recommit ourselves to creating brighter futures for all.
