Our CEO/Founder Dora Pesqueda front and center with our TheSmileZone team at Kyrene Family Resource Center being a resource for their "Gear Up to Success" back to school as we provided our preventative dental services mobile to their families. She had the pleasure of working with the great staff at the resource center and met with Irma Gutierrez "Family & Community Outreach Coordinator". Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing fathers may today be as special as you are. Thank you for instilling such great values, teaching them how to ride their first bike, how to brush their teeth, reading them a bed time story, holding their hands, being their through the best and worst times, showing them hard work, holding them when they need you the most, going to their first daddy daughter dance, taking them to their first dentist visit, and most of all being all that you can be for your children.

TheSmileZone is celebrating all month!

Dental Diversity Month

Dental Diversity encompasses a range of factors that can influence a patient’s oral health and dental care which include:

- Cultural background
- Socioeconomic status
- Ethnic makeup
- Individual differences

TheSmileZones mission encompasses diversity. Through our dental outreach program we focus on delivering preventative dental services and education to families and children in underserved communities throughout Arizona.
We’re addressing the GAP we see in Arizona in our underserved communities, through our services which touch the lives of:

- 85% Hispanic families and children
- 15% Indigenous (Native Americans), African Americans, and other ethnic groups

Our goal is to touch as many smiles as we can throughout Arizona.

Dental Diversity recognizes that everyone’s oral health needs are unique and shaped by various factors:

- Lifestyle choices
- Access to care
- Cultural practices

We embrace dental diversity through our dental outreach program by recognizing and respecting these differences and provide tailored, equitable, and inclusive dental care for individuals from all walks of life. Oral Education is vital as we provide this to our underserved schools and through Community Health fairs.

There are significant social and economic disparities in America access to dental care.

- Lack if medical insurance
- Financial instability
- Language barriers
- Cultural and Racial insensitivities in the community

We celebrate and work to expand our mission to help remove and alleviate these gaps for families and communities.

TheSmileZone Nonprofit Organization turns 8 months in June of this year 2024, as an operating nonprofit here in Arizona. Our founders have worked hard on building a strategy that has a sound foundation, obtainable mission, developing a sound marketing business plan, network growth, donor expansion and networking, and most important of all working hard to execute our mission in our underserved communities.

We are a small team but tenacious as we believe in our mission and work hard to remove boundaries in preventative dental for our underserved families and communities. Our team works so hard in our communities, schools, and health fairs . Our communities and families are in need of help, and we are working hard to be that solid rock for them. Being able to have the opportunity to have a platform to expand our voice and deliver our message to our community to let them know,”that we are here to help” is invaluable.

We are beyond excited and thankful we will get the chance to continue to expand our voice on 12 News with host Vanessa Ramirez.

We are a young nonprofit who’s only been around in Arizona for 7 months, and in this time frame we have impacted almost 500 families and children’s dental health with our mobile outreach program and provided education, partnered up with over 15 schools bringing our dental care, have joined forces with OCJ kids to provide their foster children our dental services, partnered with other nonprofits in the health care industry to provide our services, spread our mission with various news outlets and podcast, and continue to impact so many lives in a short period of our inception.

We are beyond honored to be a finalist and have a woman CEO leading our charge, and cofounders who work jointly together to bring this mission alive!

We are truly honored to be part of the basket raffle happening May 11th.

Each Raffle Basket represents a brain cancer patient or survivor - a Brain Buddie. Our Baskets are a chance for Brain Buddies and their families to share their stories by building a basket that represents themselves or a loved one. Baskets offer a tangible way for others to get to know those touched by brain cancer by showing who their are other than their diagnosis.

All of our baskets have a story and all are meaningful and full of love

About Gray Matters:

The Gray Matters Foundation is a nonprofit organization created to support and empower brain tumor patients and their loved ones through encouragement and personal outreach.

TheSmileZone Donated a basket themed “Smile - You Are At The Movies” in honor of patients and families going through brain tumor. We are honored to be able to support and provide awareness.
