We had a fantastic time at BARKITECTURE 2026 yesterday! We made a lot of new friends and our greyhounds had a blast meeting and greeting the public and being ambassadors for their breed. Thank you to everyone who came out and saw us and all of our volunteers and members who came out to the event!

Introducing Foster Benji the Cooper (Benjiroo). He is an approximately 70 pound, nearly 4 yo, stunning Irish brindle boy. He earned his nickname when he came out of his airport crate ready to greet the world with a little kangaroo hop that matches his energetic personality. He is a very sweet guy who leans on you when you pet him. He is very curious about the world and exploring it, but has also tried every soft bed in our home to see which is the coziest for a nap.

So far, he is an absolute master of going up and down inside and outside stairs, a pretty good eater, gets along well with his foster greyhound brothers, and is tolerant of a crate. He was very good for his vet exam as well. We are working on leash manners. He was very happy to meet a young girl on our walk last night and was very calm and polite to her.

Benji's adventures in the US have just begun and he is looking for his furever. If you are interested in learning more about Benji as he settles in, please contact us at [email protected] and you can also fill out an adoption application at www.gca-nc.org.

Our annual Fall picnic is coming up on September 13! We have an exciting opportunity to have a LOCAL CARICATURE ARTIST come to the picnic to draw hounds for their owners! We would love to have some businesses or individuals DONATE to SPONSOR the fee for the artist's booking. We will be happy to share your name and information as the sponsor if you wish! If you are interested, please comment here and we can follow up and give you more information!

Note the photo is not the work of any particular caricature artist, but an AI generated sampling of a greyhound caricature.
