Father God,
Help me recognize all the ways that I can eliminate the enemy’s foothold in my life.
If it means sleeping less, keep me awake.
If it means eating less, feed me You.
I no longer want to experience warfare caused by my own hands.
Thank You for choosing me to fight.
Help me understand and identify every last one of my opponents.
Help me to know their strategy.
Make me privy to their tactics.
Transform me into a sharpened battle axe to annihilate them even as I rest.
Strengthen Your Spirit in me to run toward battle and to never retreat.
Deliver me from evil, Lord.
Reveal to me any open door of sin, unforgiveness, bitterness, malice, perversion, etc.
Reveal it to me and empower Your Spirit in me to strike down every open door.
I thank You, Jesus.
Help me win this battle.
The weapons that my enemies sent to subdue and disable me, may they be killed by their own weapons.
May they be demonized by the demons they unleashed or transferred to me.
Work speedily, Lord.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

"Satan uses the s*x drive to trap all people, but even more so the Christians. M@sturb@tion is a form of self-indulgence and self-love, strictly a selfish pleasure. It produces shame, doubt, condemnation and failure. Satan's lie is that it does not involve anyone else, so it is all right."

Shield of Faith:

Ephesians 6:16 “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”
To quench, in this context, means to extinguish or put out.
Paul is telling us to use our shield of faith to put out all fiery flames the enemy is throwing our way.

We’ve briefly tapped into what faith is during our last study on the Breastplate of Righteousness (Breastplate of Faith and Love).
Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
We’ve identified that faith is an action, but the types of action taken in each of these pieces of armor is different.

With our breastplate, we are possessing firm faith in action that we are the righteousness of God.
With our shield, we are possessing firm faith in action, believing all that God has said about us (His chosen), and rebuking any of the enemy’s tactics of lies & confusion.

The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and if he can kill your faith, he’ll have access to destroy your mind, family, relationships, health, finances, and everything that is attached to your faith.

This is why we need our sturdy, durable, protective shield of FAITH; to block his attacks.

Often times, we underestimate the power of faith.
Faith will listen to a Doctor’s report, but give the final say to Jesus.
Faith will see $20 left over for the next 2 weeks, but trust God to move and supply all needs.
Faith will experience a storm, and command it with the power of God to be still.
Faith will endure pain and grief, and declare “Even in this, all things are working together for my good because I love God and I am called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

In Matthew 8:24-27, when Jesus was with His disciples on the sea, there was a great storm and the ship became covered with waves. Jesus was asleep. His disciples found Him and woke Him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
But He said to them, ‘Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?’ Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”

As disciples of Christ, He is also speaking to us. Why are you afraid of war? Where is your authority?

Not only does God show us what we can do by faith, He explains it plainly in Matthew 17:20 “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Now, I encourage you to think about your shield.
Is it reliable?
Is it effective?
Can it withstand repeated attacks?
Can it maneuver various angles?
Is it firm and secure in grip?

If one of these areas is lacking, or if your shield has wear and tear, it’s time for enhancement.
If you’re asking “How do I increase my faith,”
Romans 10:17 - “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Your faith will be strengthened by both audible preaching of the Word of God, and your study of the Word of God.
If you’re saying “I want to read about faith,” Start with Jesus’ healing and deliverance ministry in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). You will then understand the scripture “For with God nothing is impossible” stated by Angel Gabriel in Luke 1:37.

Let us develop a posture of “It is written…” rather than “Lord, save me, I am perishing.”

And since it is written that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us, we should be carrying a Conqueror-Like shield of faith in warfare.

Breastplate of Righteousness:

Our breastplate is another significant piece of armor, because the breastplate is designed to protect our heart.
Solomon instructs us in Proverbs 4:23 "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
If we take this instruction into battle, we are far more likely to appreciate the design and role of our breastplate and work at actively protecting our heart.

The second part of this armor is “righteousness.”
Apostle Paul tells us that righteousness comes by faith in God.
“Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” Romans 3:22-24
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21—We are righteous as a result of what He did for us, bearing our sins and dying for us on the cross.

There are two big takeaways in these scriptures. It is by faith that we are now the righteousness of Christ, and by the love He displayed when freeing us from our sins.
Our breastplate of righteousness = a breastplate of faith and love.

This is connected with Paul's instruction in 1 Thessalonians 5:8-

"But since we [believers] belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope and confident assurance of salvation."

What is faith?
Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Going into warfare with faith is knowing that God has already given you the victory, even if the evidence of the end result isn’t yet seen.

Hebrews 11:6 Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

This verse sums it up. Our breastplate cannot be one of righteousness without faith.

What is love?
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind, love does not envy, love does not boast, love is not puffed up (prideful), love does not dishonor others, love is not self-seeking, love is not easily provoked to anger, love keeps no record of wrongs,
love does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with truth…and the Amplified version concludes… Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening]. Love never fails.

And now there remain: FAITH [abiding trust in God and His promises], HOPE [confident expectation of eternal salvation], LOVE [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is LOVE.

When we go into battle wearing our breastplate, weapons from the enemy become impenetrable, because faith occurs with love.
Love is an action.
Faith is an action.
It began with Jesus, and now that we are identified as His Righteousness, it ends with Him too.
If we are wearing a breastplate of faith and love, and our heart is protected by these two powerful actions, how can we be defeated?
