Helping Prevent Homelessness...... One Family at a Time
A Doorway to Hope is gateway for working, low income families who are in crisis and need a helping hand. We provide necessary resources and links to local services to give temporary, emergency help.
Did you know more than 10% of the one million people living in Wake County live in poverty. What is even more heartbreaking, is that of those 106,000 people, ONE in four are children. It is nearly impossible for one full-time employed, minimum wage worker to support even one child without falling into poverty.
Many of the "working poor" live paycheck-to-paycheck and do not have the extra resources to cover unexpected expenses. In most cases, these families do not qualify for government assistance and do not know where to turn for help.
