Secretary Elaine Marshall shared insights about the long-standing partnership between the State of North Carolina and Moldova, which was established in 1999. Over the years, this relationship has fostered meaningful collaboration in education, cultural exchange, healthcare, and technology, creating lasting connections between the people of North Carolina and Moldova.

Moldova is a small Eastern European nation located between Romania and Ukraine, with Romanian as its official language. Secretary Marshall highlighted the importance of international partnerships like this one in promoting mutual understanding, innovation, and economic opportunity.

Awards and checks at our Rotary meeting last week! David Byerley accepting our Fantastic Fundraiser award on behalf of our club representing the hard work put into Oktoberfest!

The Carying Place accepted a check donation to support their efforts with the new Carr Center in Cary providing housing and childcare to some of those in our community needing support. We love supporting this amazing local organization.

Nine brave Rotarians and friends hit the streets on Saturday, May 16, 2026 for our spring litter clean‑up — proving once again that we’ll do just about anything for community service, sunshine, and an excuse to tease each other for two hours.

Armed with grabbers, gloves, and questionable jokes, the team managed to stay focused long enough to fill 10 full bags of trash. Not bad for a group that spent half the time debating who had the “most glamorous” piece of litter. I think it's Kevin!

It was a beautiful spring day in Cary, and the laughter was just as plentiful as the garbage bags.

We’ll see you again in the fall for our next clean‑up — and we’re already looking forward to your participation. Many hands make light work… and even lighter banter.

This week our guest speaker was Michelle Hile, Executive Director of Life Experiences. Their mission is to serve and improve the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout the Triangle.

Michelle shared valuable information about the NC Innovation Waiver, which helps provide essential services and support for individuals with I/DD so they can live more independently and fully participate in their communities.

It was inspiring to learn more about the important work Life Experiences is doing to support families across our region.

It was wonderful to hear from Lee Ann Miller about Neighbor Up (formerly Dorcas) and the incredible impact of their mission. Their goal is to lift each other up by equipping and empowering neighbors with essential resources and valuable skills to help build a community where everyone can thrive.

We were proud to support that mission by presenting a check for $2,500.

It was a pleasure to welcome Donna Peffley- former club member, Past District Governor, and District Rotary Foundation Chair.

She spoke about the importance of supporting the Foundation, noting that 47.5% of the contributions of the Annual Fund are returned to the District after 3 years to fund grants and other impactful initiatives.

Last weekend we got to sponsor three wonderful high school students to attend RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Academy! They couldn’t tell me exactly what they did, but it was a life changing experience they will never forget! So much fun watching their skits and having lunch! An absolutely beautiful camp!
