Remember your first place? 🔑

The mismatched dishes. The hand-me-down couch. The excitement of making it yours.

Now think about who helped you get there. Maybe Grandma shared her dishes, your parents helped with the deposit, or a friend spent Saturday carrying boxes. 📦

You might remember the furniture, but you also remember the people who showed up.

At The Carying Place, our community offers this same care to working families experiencing homelessness, helping them prepare for independent housing and settle into a home of their own.

Could you cover a surprise $1,000 bill today? More than half of Americans couldn't (Bankrate, 2026). For a family working toward stable housing, one unexpected bill can mean falling behind on rent.

At The Carying Place, we walk alongside working families experiencing homelessness. That work doesn't stop at graduation. Our workforce development support helps graduate families pursue better-paying opportunities. 🏡

Steady work, a stronger income,and a home to come back to. When those pieces fit together, parents can plan for the future instead of the next emergency.

No nonprofit does this work alone. 🤝

A network of Wake County area partners supports families at The Carying Place. NeighborUp helps with food. Note in the Pocket provides clothing so kids can show up to school ready to learn. Wheels4Hope helps families with reliable transportation to and from work.

Each partner removes a different barrier. Together, they give families room to focus on their jobs, their savings, and their next home. 🏡

That’s the value of a connected nonprofit community: no single organization has to solve everything, and families get more complete support than any one of us could offer.

We’re grateful to work alongside NeighborUp, Note in the Pocket, Wheels 4 Hope, and the many other wonderful community partners who help make this work possible. 💙

📝Homework spread across the back seat of a car. A family of four sharing one motel room. A parent who works full-time and still can't cover first month's rent and a deposit.

The parent might be the cashier who rang up your groceries this morning, the driver who dropped off your package, or the aide in your child's classroom. They show up to work every day, and their kids show up to school. Then they go home to a place that was never meant to be home.

At The Carying Place, we help working families move from crisis to stability with safe housing, weekly support, and the tools to build a secure future. Because every child deserves a place to call home. 💙🏡

For many working families, putting food on the table creates financial pressure long after the groceries are gone. 🛒💳

New research from the Urban Institute found that more than 1 in 4 working-age adults used credit cards to purchase groceries and experienced challenges repaying that debt in 2025. Nearly 1 in 5 also reported using savings not intended for everyday expenses to buy groceries.

These numbers reflect the difficult choices families face when everyday necessities stretch household budgets.

At The Carying Place, our work focuses on helping families build greater financial stability through housing support, financial education, and individualized guidance toward self-sufficiency. 💚🏡

When families have the tools and support to strengthen their financial foundation, they are better positioned for what comes next.

Music brought people together in Cary, and this special night gave our community another reason to come together. 🎶💙

When independent artist Tobin, through the community-centered work of Sōl 2 Kēp Entertainment, came to Cary for Autumn Nights: A Night of Soul at the Cary Arts Center. They wanted their time here to make an impact beyond the stage.

They chose The Carying Place as the nonprofit to support and invited attendees to donate household items for the homes our program families live in during their time with us.

What started as a night of music became a beautiful show of generosity from people who wanted to support families right here in our community.

To Teri Tobin, Sōl 2 Kēp Entertainment, and everyone who donated, thank you for choosing The Carying Place and the families we serve. It truly takes a village, and we’re grateful to have you as part of ours. 💚🏡

Four bookcases. Fourteen bags of books. One very cozy new corner. 📚

Girl Scout Juniors from Troop 2038 chose The Carying Place for their Bronze Award project, creating a new reading corner for the children in our program.

The girls built the bookcases themselves and collected books for every age, from bedtime picture books to chapter books for older kids. The result is a quiet, welcoming spot where children can curl up with a story and discover how far a good book can take them.

For families working toward stability, small comforts like this make a real difference. Thank you, Troop 2038, for giving our kids a place to read, imagine and grow for years to come. 💙

Music inspires us. Art gives us another way to express it. 🎨🎶

Thanks to a Lazy Daze grant from the Town of Cary, NC, youth at The Carying Place are participating in hands-on art activities designed to encourage creativity and self-expression.

During our Paint & Playlist session, teens created album covers inspired by an artist, song, or album that motivates them. The session was facilitated by Dominique Garvin, Associate Family Support Specialist, who leads our youth programs.

A heartfelt thank you to the Town of Cary for making experiences like this possible and investing in the young people we serve. 💚
