When the COVID 19 pandemic hit India, it damaged livelihood of many people especially the vulnerable population who are on daily wages. From DBA we started a small initiative to help families in distress by providing the basic necessity like groceries, rice, flours and other food supplies. It started with 10 families near Trichy, and now so for we have reached 600 families who are migrant workers, people in refugee camps and tribal population and people living truly in grueling situation, especially in and around Chennai, Madurai, and Trichy. We want to thank all the people who contributed to our cause and most importantly people who are volunteering in the field. At this point I want to recognize so many kind hearted people who acted to make a change in our communities and didn’t want to give-up.

lock-down during corona virus impacted many especially for people living in refugee camps, last week, our volunteers got permission and arranged to hand over relief and food supplies to 100 families from Gummidipoondi Sri lankan tamil refugee camp. The needs are huge, and constrains are high, and restrictions to enter is limited. We want to thank people who supported us, ground volunteers Kumanan and Porkovan and their team, police and government staff for helping. Thank you all for sharing your blessing.

Disaster relief during covid19, especially during restricted access is unique challenge, it requires lot of organizing, getting permission from government for driving, and coordinate with local police station, and making sure the identified people get the relief on time, these are extraordinary challenge, our friends Porkovan and Kumanan along with team of volunteers whose relentless work and got this work done. From DBA I want to thank people who contributed for aid relief, and big thanks for on the field volunteers for their support… Let us share our blessing…

We have distributed food supplies to 55 families of migrant workers and families with no ration card(families who are not qualified for government support) in Chennai, especially before the 4 day lock down. It is a massive effort of organizing, getting permission from government, identifying the people, preparing the packets and distributing. We want to thank entire team of volunteers and people who donated for this cause.
Food packet for each family : Rice -10kg,lentils - 1 kg, Cooking Oil - 1lt,chapati flour – 2 kg, Tea packet – 1,Turmeric,,chilly powder, sambar powder and vegetables.
We will be continuing our work, in helping people to find their ableness…. Please help us and share your blessing…
