💙 Remembering local hero Orlando Rivas 🧡

At Monday's Village Board meeting, Police Chief Brian Budds posthumously awarded a Citizen Award of Valor to the family of Orlando Rivas, a Buffalo Grove High School Security Guard who selflessly gave his life protecting students during a tragic traffic accident on April 21.

"Orlando's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the example he set for us all," Chief Budds said. "His courage will never be forgotten, and his service to the community will forever remain an inspiration to us all."

The Village of Buffalo Grove joins the Rivas family and the entire Buffalo Grove High School community in remembering Orlando and his unwavering dedication to protecting and serving others.

This past Friday, Sergeant Jeff Palace graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at Northwestern Univ. Center for Public Safety.

SPSC is a ten-week intensive leadership and management program that prepares law enforcement supervisors for senior command positions.

We are proud of Sergeant Palace's accomplishment and his continued dedication to the Police Department!
