The garden watering sign up is live. These new flowers from a NC State research greenhouse and our garden beds all need a drink. Can you spare a visit to the garden to help?

The butterfly garden 🦋 got a little spruce up today. All the native pollinator plants are now labelled. Thank you to the PTA garden volunteer who oversees this space with such dedication.
The butterfly garden will flower more and more as we approach summer. Check it out if you're volunteering for field day. Check inside the wooden box to see a solitary bees nest - pinky promise they won't harm you.

Our garden is ready to wake up, and we need helping hands to make the magic happen ✨ Join us for weekly gardening fun with Mrs. Long. You’ll help guide small groups of students as they dig, plant, and discover that worms are actually kinda cool. Volunteers must have WCPSS clearance.

Thank You Coast of Maine Organic Products, Inc. and the Salt Box Village Town & Country Hardware for supporting the Farmington Woods Elementary School garden. So far for 2025, our young gardeners have harvested and donated 138 pounds of food to Dorcas Ministries food pantry.

Join Mrs. Long in the garden during Sunday's Campus Workday event.
Kids get first dips on garden jobs: Pull up green bean plants. Dig for potatoes. Till the soil to prepare beds for planting.
Also check out the Swallowtail caterpillars and help with mulching around the garden beds.
Drop in Sunday 10/5, anytime between 8am and Noon.

This little moth was enjoying nectar from a green bean plant this morning look closely and you can see his proboscis reaching into the flower. He uses it like a straw - using both suction created by contracting a sac in its head and capillary forces.

Many many many thanks to the Mitchell family for replacing 42 garden fences today! They look amazing, and you can tell a lot of love for FWES went into them.

A renovated bed is also coming tomorrow!

Support the garden:
🍅 Donate a bag of garden soil to fill the new bed. We're going to need A LOT. 🫣 Drop it off in the courtyard please or bring it to Campus Work Day Saturday.
🍅 Volunteer in the garden this school year. Tuesday or Friday Mornings. No experience required.
