Putting some beds out front start filling up that 2 acres. 300 sq ft double layer w**d cloth. The w**ds in Oklahoma are crazy they will grow through dang near anything. I’m half tempted to put down another layer of 10ml plastic on top. Planning on 4-5 3x12 raised beds with mulch down to make it look nice. And add a metal w**d stop around the edges. Chickens coming soon for egg donations and plans for pigs out back also for donations. I’d like to do a year pig roast.

Well it’s not quite over yet but the black berries are puttering out. That’s one thing I hate about farming no matter what your growing the season is so short. You get a couple weeks of fruit weather strawberries blueberries or blackberries you got a few weeks of harvest and then it’s done. I really need to expand what we have going on. A couple hundred feet just isn’t enough. I’m glad we have 5 acres to play on!

It’s really important to try your hardest to use organic nutrients when ever possible and to make sure it’s sustainable just because it’s “organic” doesn’t mean it’s good. Did you know the harvesting of bat guano is actually super detrimental to the bat colony. And ends up killing them. I use crustacean meal, bone meal blood meal, and sea kelp for its natural plant growth regulators. No need for miracle grow god gave us the miracles we just need to educate ourselves. Not only is crustacean meal a good slow nitrogen fertilizer it’s also high in chitin which is high in calcium which helps with green growth. Chitin also helps suppress diseases and promotes a healthy rhizoshprere . Where kelp helps buffer the ph, and contains natural cytokinins and auxins that encourage deep root growth, vigorous foliage, and disease resistance. Not to mention being a pgr. Kelp grows up to 20ft a day!

For 3 years my wife and I have been working on our little farm planting this and that. And to see it finally starting to produce is amazing. And then the fact that we are giving away the harvest to a group of people that truly deserve it makes my heart warm.
