“The Legacy” – Who We Are
The Pride of the Upper Cumberland Legacy, Inc., also known as “The Legacy,” is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and strengthening the Smith County High School Band program. As a school board-approved Student Support Organization (SSO), we operate in partnership with the school system to provide structure

d, transparent, and impactful support for our students. We proudly serve as the official Band Booster organization, working alongside directors, students, parents, and the community to provide essential resources that extend beyond what school funding can offer. Our support includes funding for instructional staff, uniforms, equipment, and student recognition. At our core, The Legacy is about more than music—it is about building character, discipline, leadership, and pride. We strive to create an environment where students feel supported, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential both on and off the field. Through community partnerships, sponsorships, and donations, The Legacy continues to invest in the future of our band program, helping carry forward a tradition of excellence that has been “setting the standard since 1947.”

In Loving Memory of Carol Ann Evans

On behalf of the Smith County High School Band and Pride of the Upper Cumberland Legacy, Inc., we extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Carol Ann Evans.

Carol Ann was more than a proud grandmother—she was a true supporter of our students and our band family. While her granddaughter, Sophie, was a member of the dance team, Carol Ann demonstrated selfless generosity and unwavering love.

Even while undergoing medical treatments, Carol Ann made sure our band students were cared for. She entrusted her daughter-in-law, Katie, with the money to provide a meal for the band before a football game. Yet despite receiving treatment that very day, Carol Ann still came to the game to cheer on her beloved granddaughter and support the Smith County High School Band.

That act of kindness, dedication, and love will never be forgotten. Carol Ann reminded us that supporting our young people is about showing up, giving what you can, and believing in them, even during life's most difficult moments.

Her generosity touched many lives, and her memory will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sophie's family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing that Carol Ann's legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Smith County High School Band
