Letter from the Assistant Director

Important Announcement - Please Read

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I wrote to let you know what’s been going on here at the food pantry. We have been busy with distribution and all the various things that it takes to keep a food pantry running. We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner and today we are able to give out turkeys and hams to families with appointments.

But I have an announcement to make. This is a difficult and emotional letter to write. I have been with Feeding Inc. for 12 years. I love Feeding, our Feeding Inc family and the neighbors we serve- each person we help. I love the heart and mission of what we do. My heart will always be connected to Feeding and the people we help. But my last week with Feeding Inc. is January 7th. I am leaving to pursue my art and songwriting. God has been showing me that I’m in a transitional period in my life, and I’m going through a shift in seasons.

I have loved every moment of serving with Feeding Inc and I have learned so many lessons that I will take with me in whatever I do. I am forever grateful for each and every one of our staff and clients that opened their hearts and became my extended family. You still are my family. Thank you for the blessings that you are to me. Every time I was able to pray with you or encourage you was a joy and blessing to my heart.

We appreciate Stone's Throw Dinner Theatre for the food drive and funds raised for us, it will help many families in need in our community and area. Special thanks again go to Misty and Stone’s Throw for thinking of Feeding Inc and our community and putting those thoughts to action.

We also want to thank the Carthage R-9 FFA and Mark Twain
Elementary and Keller Williams for their food drives as well! When we all come together in unity to help struggling families, it’s a beautiful thing.

A big thank you to KWFC Radio and The Wind, they raised $525 that will go towards helping families in need this holiday season! Have a Happy Thanksgiving! We will be serving our annual Thanksgiving dinner the Wednesday before Thanksgiving from 3-4 pm.

In light of the current government shutdown and holiday season, many people are in crisis situations, and others have begun to look for ways to help.

We do receive food drives, and we are grateful for those who organize or donate those drives, but there is a need that many aren’t thinking of, and in some ways, this need is greater for us than the need for food.

Because in order to store the food and continue to distribute the food, we have to have operating costs met, which include insurance and utilities, and we also have to have the ability to repair catastrophic equipment failures. Though we have received some assistance for those things, we have had another failure in our walk-in freezer, and our box truck still needs its door repaired.

General operating expenses are our greatest financial struggle at this point, more than our food costs. If you would consider donating either on a one time basis or a continual monthly basis, we would greatly appreciate that. It takes lights and insurance and freezers to keep a food pantry going. Please consider donating finances as well as food. Thank you.
